We are so pleased with the meat from the steer we processed earlier this year. He was grass-fed and the meat is both lean AND tender.

Update on my previous post--our handsome Thunder (aka T-Bolt) went to his new home in Sherman, TX today! He has a herd waiting for him! So fulfilling to help someone else get started with minis.

"Mini" Herefords are great for small properties, whether you need an ag exemption, have kids who want to show cattle, want to have your own beef, or all of those reasons!

People often ask me how big our Mini Herefords are. They are not tiny cattle. Our adult bull weighs approximately 850 pounds and is about 47 inches tall at the point of the hip. Our adult cows are slightly smaller. Yes, they are much smaller than modern "normal" size cattle, but they are not dog-sized either. They are easy to handle, have gentle dispositions, and do very well on pasture and grass hay. I do supplement with alfalfa while the cows are nursing.

LMT Ranch in Celina, TX, currently has one 17-month-old horned bull looking for his own herd. At the end of this year we will have one heifer (born in March of this year) and one bull (born in April of this year) ready for their own farms. For the first time since we started raising mini Herefords, we processed a steer that we raised. He was 26 months old, live weight was 850 pounds, hanging weight was 466 pounds, and we have 221 pounds of lean grass fed beef in the freezer. Last night we tried the ribeyes and the meat is delicious. The flavor and texture remind me of the Hereford beef I grew up eating.

LMT Abel came into the world in dramatic fashion last Wednesday. We had to assist momma Elsa, but both are doing great and here they are resting in the shade this morning.

Sold! On her way to her new home in Lometa, TX!

LMT Texi Mae (born May 13, 2025) is ready for her own pasture! Mae is a beautiful, registered, horned heifer who is perfect for showing or for starting or adding to your herd. Her sire, Tay Max (aka Texi), measures 46" and her dam SL Snow Queen (aka Elsa) measures 45". Her paternal grandsire is past national champion, Disco Thunder. Mae's dam is of Splitt Creek Ranch breeding, going back to SS Turtle, who was also a champion. Her dam and sire both have excellent very calm dispositions. Mae is up-to-date on vaccinations.
