Twenty-five years ago, September 11 became the day our generation would never forget—our Pearl Harbor.
It is hard to comprehend that more than 100 million Americans alive today had not yet been born. They did not witness the planes, the towers falling, or the heartbreaking images that remain forever etched in our memories.
But they also did not witness what happened afterward.
New York became a community, and the United States became one. We prayed together. We mourned together. We stood beside strangers and called them neighbors. First responders ran toward danger, ordinary people became heroes, and Americans from every corner of the country asked, “How can we help?”
Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives taken, the families forever changed, the heroes who sacrificed everything, and all those who continue to carry the physical and emotional scars of that day.
May we tell their stories. May we remember the unity. May we once again choose compassion, courage, prayer, and love for our neighbors.
September 11, 2001.
Never forget. 🇺🇸
