đź’ś What Does It Mean to Sponsor a Family Through the Peanut Butter & Jelly Squad? đź’ś

It doesn’t mean you’re signing up for a long-term commitment. It doesn’t mean you have to solve every problem they face. It simply means stepping in to help carry the load during a difficult season.

The Peanut Butter & Jelly Squad exists to bridge the gap when families fall through the cracks. They serve local families facing food insecurity, unexpected hardships, medical issues, job loss, housing instability, and other challenges that make it hard to keep food on the table.

When you sponsor a family, you might provide:
🍞 Groceries for a week
🥚 Eggs, milk, bread, and fresh foods
🧻 Household essentials like toilet paper, laundry detergent, or diapers
🥫 Pantry staples to help stretch a family’s budget
❤️ A little peace of mind during a stressful time

What makes the PBJ Squad special is that they’re not a large organization with a big budget. They are neighbors helping neighbors. Every meal delivered, every pantry restocked, and every family served happens because people in our community choose to care.

No child should go to bed hungry. Asking for help shouldn’t come with shame. And when a community comes together, amazing things happen.

Together, we’re proving that small acts of kindness can make a very big difference. 🥜🍇 ❤️

After serving 27 years in the military, including multiple deployments, Clifton turned a lifelong passion for growing food into his full-time career. His love for agriculture followed him throughout his military service - even taking okra seeds with him to Iraq so he could try growing wherever he was stationed. During his travels around the world with the military, Clifton made it a point to learn from farmers in every country he visited, studying different growing methods and bringing those lessons home with him.

Today, Clifton and his wife, Renee, cultivate a diverse selection of fresh produce on their five acre farm in Morgan County, alongside their six beloved dogs. Their commitment to quality, hard work, and local agriculture has made them a familiar face at the Morgan County/Decatur Farmers Market, where Flint City Farms has proudly shared their harvest with the community for 15 years.

Continue supporting local, and get to know the farmers behind your food ♥️

Good morning, Decatur! 🍅🌽

The market is full of fresh flavors this morning, and the produce is looking incredible! We have beautiful homegrown tomatoes available today (limited quantities, so don’t wait!), along with sweet corn, fresh picked blackberries, squash, eggplant, and so much more from our local farmers.

There’s no better way to support your community than by buying directly from the people who grow your food. Come start your morning with us, get to know your farmers, and fill your basket with the freshest produce Morgan County has to offer.

We’ll be here until 12 unless sold out!
