I'll show them cracked cleanly when I decide on a good nutcracker.

This tree usually puts out about one 5 gallon bucket of butternuts. I'll let the last few fall, soak them in the bucket and run them through with a drill and a paint mixer. That breaks all the soft hulls off the nuts. once they're clean, I put them in the basement in a basket for 8 months to a year, then crack them open.

we took the seeds out of about 4 sunflowers today, and that'll be my seed for next year. We had more out there but I didn't need that many so we left them for the critters.
