Uffda Kombucha

Uffda Kombucha Brewing the best kombucha in the midwest!

Kombucha and alternative sodas are everywhere right now, but did you know some brands take shortcuts to get to the final product?

It would be easier to mix a highly concentrated starter liquid into tea and call it kombucha. And some brands do just that!

But not us. 👋

Our kombucha is fully fermented, meaning we give it 14-21 days to let the yeast and bacteria do their thing, creating probiotics and all the good stuff you expect in a can of kombucha.

Next time you grab a can of your favorite bev, take a second look or do a quick search to see if it’s actually fermented. If not, it might just be a fancy can of flavor and carbonation. 😉

Did you know? Part of the reason we’ve had issues with exploding cans is because our kombucha is alive!

✅ When you use a full fermentation process like we do, good bacteria and probiotics develop in each brew. To make sure they stay intact, we avoid pasteurization and shelf stabilizers all together.

🙅 On the flip side, shelf stabilizers and pasteurization kill the good bacteria and probiotics in kombucha. Beverage brands might do this for many reasons. For example, extended shelf life, easier product shipping, or to reduce flavor variation.

So, where do the exploding cans come in? The live yeasts and bacteria continue fermenting if the temperature increases (even slightly!) which creates a buildup of carbon dioxide inside the can. Pressure increases, and boom! The can fizzes over when you open it. That’s why it’s important to keep cans refrigerated!

🏃‍♀️ TLDR: Fizzy cans = a real, living kombucha!

Recently, we’ve had issues with cans fizzing over upon opening. It’s unfortunate, and in the spirit of transparency, we wanted to address the situation directly to you all, our supporters and friends.

Uffda Kombucha strives to provide the highest quality product possible. We pride ourselves on using organic ingredients and a full fermentation process, but that doesn’t mean much when cans are exploding and kegs are foaming up.

We’re actively addressing the breakdowns within our distribution network that led to this recent batch of problem cans and hope to have this solved as quickly as possible. While still safe to drink, we know the mess that an over-pressurized kombucha can make, and we want to apologize for the inconvenience.

It’s been a tough couple of weeks, and we’re pretty bummed. At the same time, we’re determined to make things right. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
