We have news to share!

The National Cottage Food Alliance has officially submitted our application to the IRS for recognition as a 501(c)(6) trade association. As of this month, our application is pending.

We chose the trade association structure on purpose. It's designed for organizations that work to improve conditions for an entire industry, and that's exactly what NCFA was created to do for cottage food makers across the country.

Here's what this step means for our community:

• A lasting, national voice for cottage food producers
• The ability to advocate for fair, workable cottage food laws, like our work following Minnesota's cottage food law overhaul (HF 2446)
• A strong foundation for CottageFoodieCon, our annual event for education and connection
• An accountable, transparent organization built for the long term

IRS review typically takes several months, and we'll let you know as soon as we receive our determination.
