7 Lazy 11 NewKid Smokin Aussie has positively influenced a group of calves with some of the best DNA maternal, production and carcass trait averages we have ever seen in a group!
We collected straws on NewKid a while ago, but wanted to wait and see if his superior genetics passed through to his calves before offering any straws for sale or sending him for additional collection. He did not disappoint!! Out of this first group of 13 that we tested just considering tenderness alone, 3 were 10/10, 5 were 9/10, 1 was 8/10 and 4 were 7/10. Maternal scores showed low birthweights, high calving ease and excellent milk traits. We are in the middle of yet another drought in TX, but these calves are still growing and holding weight.
We are using NewKid again this year as our primary herd sire, so will be selling all of his bull calves who make the cut. We will also be selling two 6 yr old cows from our herd who are bred to NewKid. Pictures coming soon!
