Unfortunately, Southwind at Sunset tonight has been postponed due to the rain and wind in the forecast.

So, let’s party at the tasting room!

Join Dan at the 1889 Prime Steakhouse in Olympia WA on Tuesday September 29th for an exciting W**emaker Dinner featuring five outstanding Foolhardy w**es. Drew MacEwen, Chef Joe and Maître D Will Edwards will be hosting Dan and serving a specially prepared menu to marry with our w**es.

Looking for a chance to talk with a w**emaker about his philosophy, approach and style? This will be a great evening to attend. In addition to Foolhardy, Dan has been the US representative of Tonnellerie Cavin, a highly regarded French cooperage located in Burgundy for the last sixteen years. He also was an editor at the W**e Specator for nine years. So, if you have any question about w**e and the w**e-world, Dan has a fantastic perspective.

Music will be performed by the talented . Delicious picnic fare will come from (please reserve your basket in advance). And of course, there will be w**e by-the-glass and bottle from both Sagemoor and Foolhardy.

We will be pouring w**es made exclusively from Sagemoor Vineyards, including our Southwind Malbec, Bacchus Old Vines Cabernet and Chardonnay from a 1990 planting at Gamache.

Not often do we you get to hang out with two Washington w**e legends on the same morning. Mike Sauer (left) and Richard Duval (right) are two of the leading ambassadors of Washington w**e, pictured here in Foolhardy's 1989 planting of at Red Willow.

Mike established the Red Willow Vineyard in 1971 and has worked with many of the most lauded w**eries and w**emakers in Washington ever since. We were fortunate to talk our way into the vineyard in 2016 and have had the real pleasure of working with the Sauer family ever since - this is a true family-owned, family-operated vineyard. If you have enjoyed a bottle of Foolhardy Cabernet Sauvignon and/or our Red Willow single vineyard bottling, you should thank Mike and his family.

We meet Richard Duval during harvest in 2018 wandering around our Cabernet in the Peninsula block at Red Willow. In truth we did not know who Richard was, which was simply a reflection of our ignorance and short time at that point in Washington w**e. Few photographers have taken such iconic photos of vineyards, farmers, harvest, w**eries, w**es and the people who enjoy them. Richard has a true passion for the WA w**e industry and his art reflects this. We have the privilege of having two Duval photos hanging in our tasting room in Walla Walla - and there are probably 100+ w**eries in Washington that have his art on the wall.

We want our Seattle-area friends to know about a unique tasting opportunity this Saturday (June 27th): an exclusive showcase of some of the best Walla Walla Valley w**eries co-hosted by Birch Road Clubhouse and the Walla Walla W**e Alliance. With the beautifully preserved Stimson-Green Mansion as the backdrop, this limited attendance tasting has been designed to allow plenty of time and space to enjoy the w**es and stories behind eight w**eries (Jonathan will be pouring for Foolhardy).

Each w**ery will be pouring up to five w**es, and you can take a bottle of your favorites home with you. Light bites will be provided.

Celebrate Walla Walla Valley W**e is upon us and we will be showcasing two of the premier vineyards in the valley all week – Southwind and Les Collines Vineyards. If you come to our Tasting Room or join us Saturday at Tranche Estate for the Open Tasting and Summer Supper, you can sample w**es we make from these exceptional Vineyards.

Southwind Vineyard - 2022 Walla Walla Valley Malbec
Sexy and Exotic.

All the grapes for this w**e come from the Southwind Vineyard on the Oregon side of the Valley in Milton Freewater. Situated at 1,400 feet of altitude, our Southwind Malbec block has soils loaded with fractured basalt, a very unusual profile for Eastern Washington. The high-stone content, winds and cooler temperatures at altitude give the Malbec from this vineyard a freshness, minerality and exotic character that is unique.

Les Collines Vineyard – 2023 Les Collines Cabernet Sauvignon
Sauve and Concentrated.

Situated at the windswept base of the Blue Mountains in Walla Walla, Les Collines is impeccably farmed by Brad Sorensen (Walla Walla Valley Alliance Board Member). The vineyard is both Live Certified Sustainable and Salmon Safe Certified. The Cabernet Sauvignon produced from this rugged site has power, concentration and density rivaling top Cabernets from the West Coast, while still maintaining a bright and balanced character.

The Tasting Room will be open Thursday through Sunday, 12:00 – 5:00pm. Reservations available, walk-ins welcome.

We hope you can join us and our fellow Walla Walla Valley w**eries and vineyards for one the premier events of the summer – Celebrate Walla Walla Valley W**e June 19th and 20th. In addition to the special flights we will be pouring in our tasting room, there are various exciting community tastings and dinners you can attend.

Foolhardy will be pouring two Walla Walla Valley w**es at the Open Tasting and Summer Dinner on Saturday June 20th from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. We will be joined by more than 20 of the premier w**eries in the valley with bites and dinner prepared by Miss Huddy's Barbecue.

Wander the beautiful Tranche w**ery and grounds while tasting w**es from a diverse group of producers. Then, sit down to dinner with the people behind the w**es (e.g. Jonathan) and hear the stories behind the Walla Walla Valley w**e community. Live music by Forrest Ray.
