MY RELAXATION!
LOVE DOING GOURDS!
After being sidelined for a moment, I’m back for 22! Happy New Year to you all! My LOVE for working on Gourds and the Ocean in my latest Chekere. A tall medium sized gourd. I used red, white & light blue pearl, and silver beads. I stained the gourd blue, and wood burned coral, seashell with a star filled them in with color. You can see on the crown I added metal foil and sealed it. All supplies used from Welburn Gourd Farm!
I made these earrings with the jewelry gourds. I sold them before I had them half way done. In person, they shine more than in the picture. I'm very proud of my accomplishment.
I made this for our oldest son...he was able to see if finally, so I can show it now! He was fighting forest fires all summer and his normal working was at the busy time of the year when he got back. The antler came form his stash, the drift wood came from the Missouri River by our house, the little circle under the gourd on the base is a resin poured one with two little trout fish with moss, sand, and sticks. It was my third attempt at resin work! The base is a slice of Black Walnut I bought in town. The gourd, wood burner and ink dyes I used, came from Welburn!! Oh, and the gourd varnish and the Formula 49. The leather strings are form the farm and ranch store for men's boot laces. The larger pieces of leather came from a friend who used to sew leather vests.
Welburn Ink Dyes allow all that wood burning to shine.

Hi Wellburn! Can you tell this newbie what is happening to my gourds? Will this damage the shell or is it just superficial? It happened rather quickly as I look at them every say.
