Rooted in a passion for the American Saddlebred.

Connecting the equestrian community through editorial storytelling, promotion & modern marketing. Stonewell Farm: A Journey Rooted in Passion and Purpose

Stonewell Farm was founded as the culmination of a lifelong passion for the American Saddlebred and over three decades of immersion in the equestrian world. Guided by a deep love of the breed and a dedication to the art of horsemanship, Stonewell Farm is both a dream realized and a journey still in motion. Kristen Stonecipher Wells was introduced to the breed at birth when her parents purchased their first horses—coincidentally, American Saddlebreds. Her childhood was spent in the barn: cleaning stalls, helping on the farm, and sometimes even skipping school just to be with the horses. By age 8, she began taking lessons; by 9, she was in the show ring. Driven by a relentless desire to learn, Kristen worked for various trainers, absorbing every opportunity to grow. She catch-rode any horse she was offered—especially the difficult ones—gaining invaluable insight and experience that shaped her as a rider. After years of competing and working in the industry, Kristen took a 16-year hiatus to focus on college, career, and life beyond the barn. But the Saddlebred world was never far from her heart. When an opportunity arose to teach, she left her work in media relations/marketing to return to the horse world as an instructor. While teaching was deeply fulfilling, Kristen longed to be back in the competitive arena. After marrying Jeff (Wells), whose love for animals made him a natural partner in the journey, Kristen found renewed focus and support to pursue her vision. Stonewell Farm grew naturally out of years spent training, showing, and learning, and has since evolved into a passion for breeding. Every foal represents a thoughtful continuation of the tradition she loves—and a hopeful step forward for the American Saddlebred.

A little update from Austria! 🇦🇹🤍 New photos of our adopted c**t, Conversano Triglava, taken just a few days ago at Piber, the breeding farm of the Spanish Riding School. He’s doing wonderfully, getting whiter by the day and enjoying these final weeks alongside his mother. There’s something so special about Piber being where these Lipizzaners begin their lives—and where they ultimately return in retirement. Truly full circle. 🤍

And there’s still time to join us this December for a truly bucket-list experience—returning to the legendary Spanish Riding School in Vienna while the city is transformed for its world-famous Christmas markets!🎄Contact us for details.

Smiles all around, and for good reason!

It was all smiles for Dena Lopez and Double D Ranch as Lola’s Girl captured the Two-Year-Old Five-Gaited title! By World Champion Say Amen and out of World Champion Leatherwood’s Way To Go, pairing exceptional bloodlines doesn’t always guarantee the outcome — but in this case, the talent certainly carried through to the next generation.

Anna Cooper knows when it’s time to flip the switch aboard The Mask — focused when it counts, but loose, fun and all smiles before and after. And that little shoulder shake for the camera says it all.

In 2024, Kamille took her first Saddleseat lesson in California. Just over two years later, her love for the American Saddlebred has taken her across the country, onto the green shavings at the World’s Championship Horse Show — and ultimately to a whole new life in Kentucky with Chris Reiser and Reiser Stables.

This new chapter also introduced Kamille to Call Me Scarlet (“Scarlet”), owned by Dr. Sally Broder. What began as a lease and a goal of competing at Louisville quickly became something much bigger. After Kamille and Scarlet earned their first championship together, Kamille was interviewed and summed up their journey perfectly: “Sometimes you just have to trust the process.” The pair went on to compete at the World’s Championship Horse Show, placing sixth in their qualifier and advancing to the Championship.

And perhaps the best part of the story? What began as a trial move from California has become home — and what began as a lease will soon become something permanent. Kamille’s family is purchasing Scarlet, making the horse who helped bring this incredible journey together officially her own. ❤️

From a first lesson, to a lease, to Louisville, to her very own horse — sometimes you really do just have to trust the process.

Whether she’s making a victory pass, coaching a rider, or simply waving to friends from the lineup, Mary Orr brings a sense of joy everywhere she goes.

Always smiling. Always gracious. And always reminding us that enjoying the moment is what it’s all about.

Mary is featured riding Blue Destiny KP for Adrienne Costin, High Caliber Stables.

True to its name, this Junior Harness Pony shredded the competition at the World’s Championship Horse Show, winning both the Four Year Old qualifier and the World’s Champion of Champions with Bryan Earehart.

Power-packed, charismatic and loaded with presence—how can you not love a Hackney pony? ❤️
