While I am leaning heavily into native plants I still am a sucker for low maintenance sturdy high color perennials.

We are wrapping up the weaning of most of this years Angus calves. It is always a sad and noisy process. It is hard on the Moms, the babies and the humans. The babies were between 4-5 months old but with their average weaning weight at 500lbs and the drought we are in, we decided that they were pulling their mothers down.
At day 4 they are eating grain, hay and drinking water so we were able to turn them out today. Sigh of relief.

Our friend and farmer Jamie at Willow Valley Farm on Harford Rd had a buyer back out of a pig he had finished. We bought it.
Well raised, and finished to perfection it is now in our freezer.
This is a favorite recipe of mine especially as blackberries in season.
I used pork chops instead of pork loin.

The brand new muzzles lasted 3 hrs…..together…they worked on those together. They also can’t wear blankets or flymasks 🤷‍♀️

Good thing they are so handsome!!!😆

First measurable rainfall since Memorial Day. For some reason all other storms have danced right around us. 🤷‍♀️
