Long before gin was known as a clear spirit, it traveled in wood. Old Tom gin was often poured straight from the barrel, sometimes beneath the sign of a black tomcat, and it picked up color and character along the way.

For the final Homeplace release of our 2026 Experimental Series, and our first experimental gin, we’re nodding to that tradition. Our Harvest Gin rested for thirty months in Armagnac casks, bringing added sweetness, brighter fruit, and a rounder palate.

Expect wedding cookie and baked cinnamon on the nose, lemon icebox bar and toasted marshmallow on the palate, and a long finish of wintergreen and candied ginger. We think it’s best in a Martinez, the 1880s classic from the same decade E.H. Taylor built our distillery.

1.5 oz Castle & Key Harvest Gin finished in Armagnac Casks
1.5 oz Carpano Sweet Vermouth
0.25 oz Luxardo Marischino Liqeuer
2 dashes Angostura Bitters

Stir with ice, strain into a chilled coupe, and finish with a lemon twist.

October is here, and Castle & Key is heading out across the Commonwealth! We'd love to raise a glass with you at a festival near you.

This year we're especially proud to be part of the 70th St. James Court Art Show in Louisville, October 2–4. Look for us at two locations on the grounds, each pouring our festival cocktail:
The St. James Spritz: Castle & Key Special Edition Gin, raspberry lime, orange blossom water, and white grape. It's bright and floral, and made for an afternoon of art.

We're also celebrating seven decades of this Louisville tradition with two commemorative, special edition bottles, a bourbon and a gin, available only at the show. There are only so many to go around, so come early.
