We bought 35 acres of high desert in Western Colorado with a dream of building our own ranch from the ground up — and this is just the beginning. 🏡

Welcome to Wick Ranch! We’re documenting the entire journey of turning raw land into our forever home, from the very first projects to the finished ranch. We’re building, clearing, hauling, learning as we go, raising animals, taking on DIY projects, and sharing the good, the bad, and everything in between.

In this video, we’re getting one step closer to our tiny home by building the frame for the gravel bed it will eventually sit on. Instead of going with a traditional concrete slab or pier-and-beam foundation, we chose a gravel bed to help keep the cost of the project down. We spent the day measuring, leveling, building the frame, and getting the site ready for the next step.

The tiny home hasn’t arrived yet, but there’s a LOT that has to happen before it does. This is only one piece of the bigger picture, and we want you to follow along from the very beginning as Wick Ranch takes shape.

Building the foundation for our tiny home! 🏡🛠️

Before we could bring in the gravel, we had to build the frame that will hold it all in place. We chose this method instead of a slab or pier-and-beam foundation to keep the cost down, and we’re excited to see this part finally coming together!

One step closer to making this little home a reality. 🤍

The night sky never gets old. ✨🌌

One of our favorite things about living in a National Dark Sky area is getting to see the Milky Way like this right from home. No city lights, no light pollution—just millions of stars lighting up the sky. 🤍

We’ll never take this view for granted.

Meet the newest (and tallest 😂) member of Wick Ranch! 🐓

We were gifted this 6-foot TSC rooster, and of course we had to unbox him on camera! 😂

The calm before the storm. 🌩️

This one rolled in FAST. We had over 100 lightning strikes nearby, crazy winds, and a storm that turned the sky completely dark. We ended up hunkering down in the tiny home and watching it all unfold. ⚡️🏡

Definitely one of those moments that makes you realize just how wild it can get out here.

Before we could build the tiny home, we had to make room for it. 🌲➡️🏡

Trees came down, sagebrush got cleared, and we hauled away more trailer loads of branches than we can count.

Not the prettiest part of the build, but seeing the site slowly take shape makes all the hard work worth it.
