The members of the Groveton Fire Department extend our deepest condolences to the Boston Fire Department, the family, friends, and brothers and sisters of Firefighter Robert Kilduff following his tragic line of duty death.

Today, we are reminded of the sacrifices firefighters across this country make every day in service to their communities. Firefighter Kilduff answered the call with courage, dedication, and honor — a commitment that will never be forgotten.

Please keep his loved ones and the entire Boston Fire Department in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of a fellow firefighter who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty in Maine.

Today, we honor a brother, a protector, and a public servant who answered the call without hesitation and gave everything in service to others. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the firefighter’s family, friends, department, and all those affected by this heartbreaking loss. The fire service is a family, and today that family grieves together.

Rest easy, brother. We’ll take it from here.

🔥 Forest Fire Danger is High Across New Hampshire 🔥

As Northumberland's Fire Warden, I want to remind everyone that current conditions across the state have created a significant risk for wildfires. With prolonged sunshine, low humidity, and increasingly dry ground conditions, even a small spark can quickly become a dangerous and fast-moving fire.

Please use extreme caution with any outdoor burning, campfires, grills, and equipment that may create sparks. Never discard ci******es on the ground or from a vehicle. A single careless moment can have devastating consequences for our forests, homes, and community.

Before conducting any outdoor burning, be sure to check current fire conditions and obtain any required permits. If you see smoke or fire, report it immediately by calling 911.

Protecting our community and our natural resources is everyone's responsibility. Stay alert, stay safe, and help us prevent wildfires.

🚨 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE GROVETON FIRE DEPARTMENT 🚨

Due to a recent increase in calls (and a few “creative” dispatch requests 😅), the Groveton Fire Department will be implementing a new emergency response program starting today.

🔥 Introducing our “Bring Your Own Water” (BYOW) Initiative 🔥

To help us better serve the community, residents are now asked to have the following ready in the event of a fire:
• Two full buckets of water
• A garden hose (bonus points if it’s not tangled)
• Someone yelling “we called 911!”

This program is designed to improve response times and encourage strong community participation 💪

🚒 Don’t worry — we’ll still show up with the trucks… eventually.

We also plan to roll out a new system where residents can reserve their nearest fire hydrant ahead of time. More details to come.

Thank you for your cooperation and continued support.

APRIL FOOLS! 😂

We’ll always bring the trucks, the water, and everything else you count on us for. Stay safe out there, Groveton — and thanks for always supporting your fire department!

🚨 Fire Permit Reminder 🚨

With the snow finally gone and spring conditions here, this is a reminder that fire permits are now required for any outdoor burning.

Before starting any brush burn, campfire, or debris fire, please make sure you have a valid permit in place. This helps keep our community safe and prevents unwanted wildfires.

Permits can be obtained online with the link:
https://nh.burnsafeamerica.com/

Or by calling and setting up a time to obtain one in person.

Stay safe and burn responsibly. 🔥

🔥 Burn Ban Update 🔥

The burn ban has officially been lifted, but some restrictions still apply:

✅ Category 2 fires are now allowed — as long as you have an active permit.
🌧️ Category 3 burns are only permitted during rain and require a valid permit as well.

Please remember to burn responsibly, follow all local regulations, and keep safety as your top priority. Let’s keep our community safe while enjoying the return of burning season!
