Last night was a very traumatic night. Before we went out & locked the coop up for the night a neighbor’s dog came from 2 streets over & went into the coop. He managed to kill 3 of our younger hens. The owner was very sorry & plans on making everything right, which we greatly appreciate, but it doesn’t take away the trauma the flock experienced or the trauma of me watching him crunch one of our baby’s just to drop her & take off for another one. We do not fault the dog, he was just being a dog. We are very concerned that if he gets out again he will come straight back due to the “fun” he had. 😞 Our head rooster Willow did everything in his power to protect the flock. After getting as many as possible out the coop he came right back viciously attacking our unwanted visitor. Willow did an amazing job & was not injured last night ❤️ The flock is still very stressed with lots of hiding & huddling going on💔 We have given them some Kickin Chicken with extra treats to help with the stress.
