Do you think he sneezed? 😂

Cooper is our “farm dog.” He’s out here checking our hay for us.

Tis the season!

Who knows what the string is for?!

It’s hay season! And quiz time. Hint - I’m attached to a hydraulic fluffer and just getting started in this field.

What is tangible personal property (TPP)?

Tangible personal property refers to agricultural equipment (not land or buildings) that is used to produce agricultural products or support agritourism activities. It’s the equipment that farmers use every day to produce the food, fiber and products we all rely on.

And we are taxed on it.
FOREVER.

These are some of the lesser known costs of farming!

And you have a chance to make farming more attainable this voting season.

Vote YES on Amendment 2 to remove TPP on certain farm equipment to help keep farmers growing!

Can you tell we were tourists to Texas?

These wind turbines are absolutely enormous. You don’t realize how large they are until you stand close to one. The blades whistle as they spin and cut the air as well. We stopped on the tour to stretch our legs and to see one of these giants! Also to laugh a little. Also - yes - my hat went flying in that wind!

What a time this week with visiting Texas and to learn about ongoing agricultural issues in the state and relationships with Mexico.

Sometimes it is humbling to remember you are not alone in struggles. Water, labor, and rural encroachment seem to be rampant between both states and across American agriculture as a whole.

Stay tuned as we share more on what we learned in Texas related to cattle imports, screwworm updates, water shortages, labor, and produce coming in from across the border.

What topic are you most curious about?

Heading to the border of TX and MX to learn about the produce import process over the Rio Grande. What do y’all want me to ask?

What does “removing red tape” actually mean to allow more competition in the beef processing and distribution marketplace?

I think any movement to diversifying competition for meat distribution and packaging in the market IS a good thing, it is going to be a long process. Not an overnight fix.

What do you think of the strategies shared by current administration right now?

Getting rid of one of the main concerns for our beef customers.

The deep freezer….

So many people are looking to buy beef in bulk. They want a bit of savings and want to be able to access a lot of variety without running to the store or the farmers market.

But the deep freezer is another cost added to the ability to buy any beef shares like a quarter or eighth cow.

We are going to take a stab at removing this issue for our customers!

Introducing beef share delivery.

Customers can now choose if they get all the beef up front OR they can split up delivery over 4 or 6 month periods to keep freezer space free while still having a nice variety of beef cuts on hand.

What do yall think? Is this something you’d like to have as an option from your farmer?

Do you like this approach??

Have yall seen the latest action in the White House regarding cattle ranchers?

Here are our thoughts.

We’d like to hear what additional questions you all have as well!
