And that’s a wrap on FBW 1.0!
In the four months since I launched this little carb-loading side hustle I’ve sold something on the order of 500 loaves of bread. That’s not counting minis, test loaves, or the ones I kept or gave away. All made in my little kitchen here in Hazard.
The best part has been the in-person pickups at the Coffee Shop and the market days. People who get excited about a delicious loaf of bread are, without a doubt, my people. In my old job I didn’t get to make people happy very often, so it really is nice to know I’m putting some happiness into my community and to see it up close.
I’ll be back with a vengeance in August, so I’ve got two months to think about where I can go with all of this. So get excited and get ready for me to wreck that summer body you’ll have been working on!
For now, I have to thank some people.
First and foremost, I have to thank the best wife I’ve ever had, Tamara. Not only has she tolerated the utter waste I’ve laid to our kitchen, but she has been there for me big time on the busy days when my brain will let me bake OR do logistics but not both.
Thanks to Les Roll who has hung out with me on pickup days and helped me get rid of the extras. He has the sales skills that I don’t often have the confidence for.
Thanks to Kristin M Smith for letting me be a part of FEAST and trusting me with a vital component of her dish. I didn’t quite give her what she asked for but I ended up giving her something even better, and her challenge and inspiration got me there.
Thanks to Hazard Coffee Company for letting me take over a table on Thursday afternoons and spread my products out everywhere.
Thanks to everybody at the Perry County KY Farmer's Market for accepting me as a new vendor with open arms.
And finally, thanks to you! If you’ve bought a loaf or just left a thirsty comment on one of my pictures, then you’re the reason why I do this.
