This weekend’s farm stand lineup is basically childhood nostalgia in dessert form. 🍫🔥

This weekend at the farm stand:
🍫 Matilda’s Chocolate Cake 🍫

If you know, you know. Thick, rich chocolate cake with serious “Bruce Bogtrotter cafeteria scene” energy. These are not tiny bakery slivers either. These are generous, oversized slices made for true chocolate cake people.

AND…

🍪 Jumbo S’mores Cookies are back!
My original chocolate chip cookie base loaded with extra chocolate chips, stuffed with gooey marshmallow, baked on top of a graham cracker, and topped with a piece of Hershey’s chocolate for the full campfire s’mores experience.

These are not “grab a little treat” desserts. These are the kind you plan your evening around. 😄

🍅 Tomato Plants Still Available! 🍅

I still have a limited number of organically grown tomato plants available at The Rusty Rake Homestead! All plants were started from seed using organic seed starting mix with no chemicals used.

Available varieties:

🍅 Bread & Salt — 7 available
(Solanum lycopersicum). This delectable, meaty, oxheart type is an heirloom from Russia. The name refers to the traditional custom of offering special guests bread and salt, a symbol of health and fortune. The fruit is a large with dense, meaty flesh. It is exquisite for slicing, sauce making, and everything in between. The leaves are naturally wispy, so be sure to provide a strong support for this plant to help it carry the weight of these delicious tomatoes.



🍅 Chocolate Miracle — 1 available
(Solanum lycopersicum). A tomato for true chocoholics. These melt-in-your-mouth marvels are velvety, smoky, and laced with cocoa undertones. Their thin chocolate-purple skins shimmer like truffles and their rich, tangy juices burst like bittersweet ganache. Claimed by experts as one of the finest-tasting brown tomatoes, pure savory indulgence.

🍅 Traditional Beefsteak — 3 available
Old-fashioned, heirloom variety bears gorgeous red, up to 2-lb. fruits with a meaty texture and a full, rich flavor. They're ideal for slicing and eating fresh or for sandwiches. For many, Beefsteak Tomatoes are the essence of summertime and a must-have in the home garden. The open-pollinated, indeterminate plants bear very heavy yields and can keep producing for months, often until frost. The vines can grow up to 8 ft. tall and staking is recommended.

🍅 Brads Atomic Grape — SOLD OUT!
(Solanum lycopersicum). Large, elongated cherries in clusters. The color (and flavor!) is a full-blown assault on the senses—lavender and purple stripes that turn to Technicolor olive-green, red, and brown/blue stripes when fully ripe. Really wild! Fruit holds well on the vine or off, making this amazing variety a good candidate for market growers. Olive green interior is blushed with red when dead-ripe. Crack-resistant fruit is extraordinarily sweet! Wispy foliage looks delicate but belies these plants’ rugged constitution and high productivity. 🍅 Black Beauty — SOLD OUT
(Solanum lycopersicum). The darkest tomato we know! A dark, meaty, very rich-fleshed tomato with extreme anthocyanin expression (same antioxidant as in blueberries and blackberries). So dark that some tomatoes turn solid blue-black on the skin. Deep red flesh is among the best tasting of all tomatoes. Rich, smooth, and savory with earthy tones. Hangs well on the vine and stores very well, and the flavor improves with room-temperature storage. Some proclaim it as the BEST tomato they have ever eaten!.
