Green bean season has officially started at the farm! We are also harvesting zucchini, cucumbers, snap peas, kale, chard and strawberries. The flowers are helping us out by bringing the pollinators. 🐝❤️😎🌻🍓

Beautiful day to work together at the farm! We had a terrific volunteer group — 14 in all — and got so much done. We planted carrots and cauliflower, transplanted squash, and weeded the corn and zucchini. We also added marigolds in the greenhouse to deter pests and added a few herbs outside. Things are looking good!!! 🙂❤️🌽💪🥕🥬

We will continue to have volunteer days on Saturdays from 9:30 to 11:30 am. Come join us!!!

A terrific volunteer day at the farm today! We weeded the greenhouse, cleared the fence and planted sugar snap peas, and added nourishing feather meal to strawberries, peas, and garlic. Asparagus and rhubarb and growing quickly, and our potato structures are also ready for planting. Big thanks to the awesome volunteers from SMU and JPII high school who came out to help! 🙂🥬😎❤️💪🍓

Overcast but fun morning at the farm with SMU volunteers who helped us prepare the fields for upcoming cover crop. Today we harvested the remaining pumpkins (171 lbs!), rolled up mats, removed the dying green bean plants from their fence, and removed a ton of invasive crabgrass. As usual, one highlight was feeding the cows. 💪🥬❤️🐄🙂🎃🍂

Another fantastic Saturday volunteer crew out at the farm! Special shout out to the Saint Martin’s University Women’s Basketball Team, and two amazing grad volunteers, who helped with fall cleanup and harvesting pumpkins for local elementary school children. Special thanks to Sam Fox for bringing the dump truck to haul weeds. And, finally, big thanks to the Brownsberger family for all of the help and for delivering those pumpkins! 🎃💪❤️🐑🥬😀🏀🚛 🐄🍓

More donations going out tomorrow. This beautiful lettuce was grown with love — planted by Saint Martin’s students early in the Spring 2022 semester, nurtured in the science building with the help of biology professor Sam Fox, transplanted and weeded with the help of many (students, faculty and staff from SMU; students from Pope John Paul II High School; and members of Saint Michael’s Parish), and harvested by SMU accounting professor Tim Madeley. Now it will be shared with our wider community. ❤️🥬❤️
