Oh my sweet Judgey boy 💕
How I didn't know how much I would appreciate your presence on this property when I got you 3 years ago. How nervous was I about having this massive dog with keen guarding instincts and what was I supposed to do to guide all of that.
This dog is the gentlest of giants. Like to the point I'm nervous to get another of the breed because I truly just feel so so thankful to get to experience him and how could another LGD possibly live up to the same expectations.
He scouts religiously, every morning and every evening he makes his route. Depending on what he smells or hears it may include the neighbors properties as well who don't have their own livestock dogs. The neighbors all have given him permission to gaurd their properties too for the most part, and report back when they catch him on camera trailing a coyote or fox. It's truly not often something makes it ON farm for as much predator pressure we have.
But boy is he a sensitive intuitive quirky dog.
Don't leave a sock on the porch, kid or calf bottles left outside are fair game, boots or gloves too. And oh boy if a kid leaves a stuffed animal outside it's his now obviously. He leaves ferns toys. They apparently have some kind of respect for each other. He has a collection. A Cache of his favorite finds. I come across them in the woods sometimes 🤣
He accompanies my kids when they are outside alone, he checks on my chickens, if a goat squeezes out of a gate gap he herds them to the barn and snuggles up with them in there overnight until I get down in the morning.
He's just a wonderful wonderful dog who is always willing to let me lead him into a new situation or task and is just genuinely always a good boy.
(This week he has figured out the UPS truck gives treats and he now keeps an eye out for them and waits in the front yard and charges them a treat admission fee to deliver their package and then waits for them to leave, he's hysterical)
