Little Debbie and Crumbl are reportedly joining forces for a menu that could destroy every diet in America! Six creations inspired by the Little Debbie snacks we grew up loving: Zebra Cake, Strawberry Shortcake Roll Cookie, Unicorn Cake Cookie, Oatmeal Creme Pie Cookie, Chocolate Fudge Cupcake Cookie and Cosmic Brownie Cookie.

That Zebra Cake is double-layered vanilla cake filled with marshmallow cream cheese frosting, covered in melted white drops and finished with chocolate drizzle. Bubby, Gator ain't had a Little Debbie cake in 4 years but this is Crumbl.

The rumored Little Debbie menu is expected at Crumbl locations September 7–12.

I don’t know who arranged this meeting between Little Miss Deborah and Crumbl—but they deserve a promotion!

SEPTEMBER HAS BECOME DIPPING SEASON
Bubby, restaurants have apparently decided we aren’t getting enough dip in our lives. Dairy Queen has introduced its new MVP Dip Lineup with Strip Dip, smoky Ghost Pepper Dip and house-made ranch. For a limited time, participating locations are also offering a $6.99 meal with four chicken strips, fries, a drink and your choice of dip.

Meanwhile, QDOBA has renamed the month “Diptember.” Its new Queso Fundido combines three-cheese queso with seasoned ground beef, picante ranch and cilantro. QDOBA’s dipping celebration runs through November 2.

I don’t know when dipping became a season, but I’m willing to support it. Give Gator some chicken strips, fries and a bowl of queso—and stand back. The only rule is no double-dipping, Bubby. We still live in a civilized society.

CHICKEN SALAD CHICK IS READY TO HATCH IN BARBOURSVILLE
West Virginia is getting its first Chicken Salad Chick—and it’s opening right here in the Huntington area.

The new restaurant will open Wednesday, September 16, at 21 Tanyard Station Drive in Barboursville. It will offer indoor dining, takeout, delivery, catering and a drive-thru.

Chicken Salad Chick specializes in more than a dozen varieties of chicken salad, including Classic Carol and Fancy Nancy with apples, grapes and pecans. The menu also features sandwiches, soups, fresh sides and desserts.

Now here’s the part that could create quite a line: The first 100 customers on opening day will receive free chicken salad for a year. The first person gets one large container every week, while the next 99 receive one every month.

I’ve never been to a Chicken Salad Chick, but I’m ready to see what all the clucking is about. Are you planning to try it?

CASEY’S — WHY NOT HUNTINGTON?

I’ve been inside a few Casey’s General Stores during my travels. They’re part convenience store, part gas station and part neighborhood pizza shop. And people who live near one will quickly tell you—the pizza is the main attraction.

Casey’s isn’t as oversized as Buc-ee’s or as flashy as some of the newer Sheetz locations. It’s more of a solid, small-town Midwestern convenience store where you can grab fuel, breakfast pizza, a sub or a whole pizza for supper.

My Gator grade for Casey’s is an A-B. Nothing fancy, but they know what they are and do it well.

The strange thing is that there aren’t any Casey’s anywhere around Huntington. With Marshall students, interstate traffic and all the surrounding small towns, I believe one could do pretty well here.

GATOR VIEWS: THE DISAPPEARING DINNER TABLE
Domino’s has introduced a new personal pizza that everyone can customize without having to compromise with anybody else. Sounds convenient but it also says something about where we are today.

There was a time when the dinner table was the center of the home. Everybody ate the same meal, whether it was their favorite or not. You sat down together, talked about your day and learned to compromise. If you didn’t like onions, you picked them off. Nobody ordered five separate meals from three different restaurants.

Today, families can sit in the same room while everyone eats something different and stares at a different screen. We’re together, but we’re not really together. The disappearing dinner table isn’t Domino’s fault. The personal pizza is just another sign of how much our lives have changed. We have more choices, more convenience and more ways to communicate than ever before, yet many people have never felt more alone.

We may never bring back the world we grew up in, but perhaps we can put down the phones, order one large pizza and bring back the dinner table for one night.
