4 Bear Ranch, LLC

4 Bear Ranch, LLC 4 Bear Ranch is dedicated to the growing of livestock, fruits and vegetables, honey, dairy, and making homemade food products for our local community to enjoy.

At the ranch, we are focused on regenerative land practices and happy and healthy livestock. At 4 Bear Ranch our goals are to rebuild a healthy topsoil on our 28 acres of land and implement rotational grazing practices leading to happy and healthy livestock. We have a combination of forested areas and pasture in between two mountains with a seasonal creek running through it. The location has prove

n to have its own microclimate, different than that of the open mountain faces and different than that of the valley floor. It has been a challenge to build a garden, orchard, and ranch in general; however, it has been a rewarding challenge as we see how care for the land becomes easier by working with the livestock and their natural grazing patterns, and not against it. Join us on our ranching journey, as we learn the ins-and-outs of the business and the joys of working with livestock! Our blog page is soon to be up and running, visit https://www.4BearRanch.org to see more.

Survived the evening feeding….Roman lives another day…

Now time to eat! Bagel pizzas! Tasty and quick! Bagels, diced tomatoes seasoned to liking, sandwich size pepperoni, and provolone cheese for me…no pepperoni and cheddar cheese for the mini me. Oven baked at 400 for 8-10 minutes or until your desired doneness. Quick, easy, and yummm!!!

😋

Pretty sure I had gotten some sort of crazy bug! On the mend - though still a little bleh. How do I know I’m in the mend?

Well…when Roman decides he doesn’t like you anymore for whatever reason and starts chasing you…to attack…yup. Got stuck out of the coop and then got stuck in the coop. I had a children’s garden hoe as my weapon of choice 😜 Then outsmarted him some, but it still resulted in a dash, grab buckets, and run, with a hurdle over electric fences, buckets, hoe and all…up the driveway…and once realized I wasn’t going to be taken out by a turkey…well, realized I don’t feel all that terrible considering being sick since Monday…not 100% but getting there…would’ve messaged Ginny the neighbor - but ya know, the phone was in the charger in the house 🏠 😂

Now though - I have an angry turkey running around outside the coop in the yard…and am gonna have to figure out what to do about that…essentially, I am now trapped in the house 😜 farm problems….why couldn’t the lions come and eat Roman???!!!??? Sheesh…only thing that visited us last night when I had all the windows open was a skunk, that must’ve touched the hog electric and sprayed - cause it stinks down there…

*picture taken from the safety of my daughters 2nd story bedroom window….he’s looking for meeeee!!!

Honey and Crystal. These two have a funny little bond. They are cute - though sometimes I gotta remind Crystal to listen to her cow mama Penny, and not her mini Mama Honey. 😜 🤣 🤪

I have a terrible lung cold and got a double whammy of either flu or food poisoning. It takes forever feeding the animals - but it is nice to be forced to get the fresh air and soak up some sunshine…on the recovery now, but still super tired…oh well, Makenzie and I have enjoyed quite a bit of Hallmark and Disney….

This is week 2 of summer break 😜 got a little bit done in the garden after lots of breaks…will try to get more done tomorrow…

After what felt like eternity of cows yelling at me for their breakfast - I finally finished the fence and they are out in the green happy as clams!! You would think they hadn’t eaten in days the way they were mooing 🤣

Eggs ♥️ we’ve got eggs again!!! Oh how we’ve missed regular laid eggs. Lots of changes over the past year resulted in eggs everywhere - most of which I am certain we still have not found! We have most of the flock back where it is supposed to be, a couple more modifications are needed - but for the most part, we are finally making headway in getting the chickens where they need to be!

Kept Mr. Bo in the vacation pasture, while his pasture mates intently watched the Vet check take place 😜 It was a beautiful day with all the critters doing well!!

We have hit 15 cattle!!! A bit high for us - so we will have livestock for sale! We won’t sell calves under 6 months of age - the longer on mom the better. We do however have a couple different cow calf pairs that can go now, and 1 starter herd - our last fully unrelated bull, a cow and calf! Pictures coming soon with the cow calf pairs and starter herd…as well as each of the calves that will be available in 6 months!

We do have a certain number we keep back for beef - depending on what livestock sells. We won’t have beef available until 2027…they’ve gotta grow still 😉

All 15 impatiently waiting for me to open the gate and hand out some hay…these guys crack me up…they get up, want the gate open to be let out for the day and get breakfast. They come back for a mid day nap…then go out again until dinner. Make their way back in the inner loop and wait for dinner…I don’t feed breakfast in the inner loop. It’s just where they know they will be safe for the night I suppose. So I shut the gate and do the same thing in the morning 🤪
