We put candy on our ribs. It was a good decision.

Cowboy candy is candied jalapeños, and that sweet heat works pretty damn well with hickory smoke and Rub Yer Meat BBQ Rub.

Brush on the syrup while the ribs cook, then slice and toss them with the candied jalapeños for a sweeter, stickier finish. You can also skip the toss if you prefer your ribs a little less sweet.

If you’ve been cooking ribs the same way for years, give these a shot.

I'm going to do something I don't normally do and get a little personal on this page. Barbaric BBQ is a small business trying to grow. But one of our foundational principles is to always, always treat our customers, prospective customers, and fellow business owners the way we'd want to be treated. With respect, generosity, and kindness.

This week, my wife and I lost one of our cats to cancer. It's been difficult for us, but we plaster that smile on and we keep hustling. Part of losing a beloved pet involves the logistics of canceling recurring orders and things like that. Our cat had been on prescription foods supplied by and on auto reorder with Chewy for several years. I canceled our recurring order and they had a form asking why with one of the options being that the animal had passed away.

Folks, I got a message while I was working at the Fall Chick Event by Farfalla Events this weekend from my wife. The attached photo is what she sent me and is what she received delivered to our home today. Chewy has set the bar for what a business, small or large, should strive to be. I cannot imagine a more compassionate and caring response to _losing business_ than this. I can only hope that I can live up to their example of what a business should be and how they treat people. We are touched, incredibly grateful, and truly inspired by this kind gesture.
