Hi there! I’m Robyn.

A small-town Nebraska girl turned Kansas City yogi. My passion for personalized healthcare started with my own triumph over psoriasis. After two years of battling what looked like chicken pox skin, I had had enough. Enough creams and drugs (that weren’t working anyways) so I delved into lifestyle medicine! Within 3 months, my skin was clear and I was med free. I haven’t had a spot since and after

that experience, I knew my purpose here was to help others discover how much power they had in getting or keeping themselves well. This goes far beyond just physical health. I’m talking about wellness as a whole-person including emotional, psychological and spiritual wellness! As a dietitian, I have the clinical training and can speak the biochemistry and physiology necessary to help people but I’m unique in the fact that I won’t just talk food and diets. I value the science but I value the study of the individual the most. I practice with an Integrative and Functional medicine approach. Meaning I work to help the individual address the ROOT CAUSE of what’s going on versus just treating the symptoms. What works for one will not work for all and I believe the more we know about ourselves, the more we can do to create the optimal live that allows us to be the best version of ourselves. To help someone get or stay well, we have to go beyond the food alone. We may need to investigate hormones, gut health, blood labs, toxin exposure, genetics, stress levels, sleep and much more. I don’t do diets. I don’t treat symptoms. I don’t do shame approaches to make changes. I do lifestyles with a solid nutrition foundation. I do whole person care. I do empathy. Honestly, this is because I get it. I’ve been down the path that didn’t work. The path that worked against my biology and I want to help people avoid that. Let’s figure out what YOU need and address the root of the problem. You can totally do that once you know what to focus on and how to do it! I’ll help you put the power back in your hands!

Why we always test iodine with ovulation acne.

Let's get a lil nerdy 🤓

Iodine is an essential nutrient needed for a LOT of functions in the body (thyroid, breasts, brain, etc).

But little competitors can block iodine from working ❌

Remember 8th grade biology class & the halogens on the periodic table? At the top is fluorine, then chlorine, then bromine, & THEN iodine.

They all compete. & guess who's often losing? Yep…iodine.

🛑 quick disclaimer: the answer is NOT to just go take iodine supps. Doing too much w/o proper prepping can do more harm than good.

We're exposed to fluoride in water & dental products, chlorine in pools, & bromine in baked goods…

Yes, iodine is in some salts but what we get from that is low (& debatable). That's IF you're using iodized salt, which a lot of us (🙋‍♀️) opt out of.

These other halogens kick iodine out of its spot, which can lead to symptoms like fatigue, estrogen dominance, breast pain, constipation, fertility struggles, ACNE…

These are all warning signs 🚩 we look for with clients that halogens need investigated.

Especially true during ovulation. Histamine rises with estrogen, & when you ovulate, you hit a peak. Without proper iodine levels, your body doesn't have the tools it needs to metabolize histamine.....leading to breakouts. 😬

Cutting dairy is a fine starting place. Let's just make sure you understand what it's actually doing (& what it's NOT) ⬇️

Cutting dairy is one of the most common pieces of acne advice out there.

And it's not wrong. I did it too...for years.

Some of you may genuinely feel better off of it (& if you do, love that for you!).

but if you wanna eat cheese, this post is for you.

Here's what most acne advice misses when it tells you to cut dairy:

1️⃣ "dairy intolerance" is rarely the actual root cause. it's a symptom of WHY your body can't handle it right now

2️⃣ cutting dairy without addressing WHY it's trigger you keeps you stuck in the food-fear loop (& adds another food to the "can't eat" list every few months)

We want you resilient babes. Not restricted.

Inside CSL, when a client is reacting to dairy, we're looking at deeper layers like:
✅ Mineral status (low minerals = poor digestion = reactive to lots of foods, not just dairy)
✅ Stomach acid & bile flow (you literally need these to break dairy down. low output = bloat, breakouts, the works)
✅ Gut bacteria balance (you need a resilient immune system to tolerate lots of foods)
✅ Iron recycling (when this is off, inflammation runs high & makes EVERY food feel like a problem)
✅ Cellular stress resiliency (a depleted body can't handle normal inputs....cue dairy "sensitivity")
