We hope all are well.
It has been an interesting beginning for the ‘26 growing season.
The apple’s green tip stage started 5 days later than in ‘25.
But, it only takes one night to have damage done due to frost/freeze during early bloom and the pink stage of flower development.
On April 20th and 21st temperatures went down to a low of 23.9 and others reported below 20 degrees.
We tried to mitigate the damages thru wind machines and some cultural practices.
We believe that we have been surprisingly successful. There are a few varieties that will be little to none, but most are looking okay.
We will know more after the natural thinning stage occurs. We will be able to see the fruit set and the cosmetic appearance of those varieties .
Stay tuned.
Today, we remember and honor our fallen heroes.
