Where do you typically set your candles when you light them? I gravitate toward the stove because it is a heat-resistant flat spot. I feel a little better about going about my weekend chores with it placed there. It seems less likely my cats will knock it over there 🤣

It felt like spring today.
I’m still over here struggling over my decision to not have a vegetable garden this year. So I repotted two house plants and this little cactus I purchased a couple months ago.

A girl has got to play in the dirt, right? This girl does at least.

We are just three weeks from the first day of spring. Who is excited for peach blossoms and warmer breezes? 🙋🏼‍♀️

This year feels really weird. We decided to put the vegetable garden to bed and let it slumber this year while we focus on the landscaping around the house after last year’s construction projects.

Sometimes you just have to prioritize your time. And we have a pretty good frozen and canned stock, plus we can plan to purchase fresh vegetables from the local farmers markets.

But the weird part? This is the weekend in February I would normally start my veggie seeds.

So today we decided to go on an adventure and explore a new nursery. It was fun - too early in the season for a lot of plants but look 👀 at this rather rare houseplant!

By the end of this adventure we had decided to start some perennial plant seeds in the greenhouse this year. Perhaps next Saturday if the long range forecast looks favorable.

Maybe not so weird afterall?

There are a few places in this world that seem to fuel my soul. The big sky in the great American West is one of those places for me.

I just spent a week at my mom’s in Western Kansas where the horizon is flat but the landscape actually isn’t. It’s that time of winter where it’s all deep browns and bright blues - with a little bit of green from the winter wheat.

Meet Miss Maybelline.
We started the year with three indoor cats and a couple or feral orange tabbies out around the barn. And then we met Mama Mabel.

She showed up in June with a litter of kittens. She was friendly but those kittens were feral. And they were female.

I spent the summer coaxing them to trust us so I could arrange for spays. Meanwhile mama had wandered off leaving us her children.

After Labor Day Mama showed up again and she was pregnant again. On September 29 she decided to wander inside and it was clear she was in labor.

This is how we went from 3 cats to 13 in just a few months.

Miss Maybelline had a heart murmur we had to treat before she could be spayed. Fortunately it resolved and the spay happened this week. She’s now retired from the baby factory and gets to live the rest of her life as an indoor cat who is loved and has her own bed for snoozing.

(All our females are now spay and we only have three male kittens left to neuter and those are scheduled!)

Home Sweet Cozy is a hug in a jar. 🤍
Our featured scent for February is soft, familiar, and made for slow winter evenings — the kind where you wrap up in a blanket, dim the lights, and settle in.

It is especially great to light while winter still lingers and you’re craving comfort, calm, and a little extra cozy at home.

Now available in the shop as a candle or wax melt. This is a limited edition small batch pour.

This little corner of the kitchen makes me smile every time I walk by especially when morning light is streaming through the window.

I just added a honeybee tea towel and a matching pad under the dish drainer. 🐝Nothing fancy — just a few small touches that make the kitchen feel warmer and more like home. It’s the little things 😊
