This week the Upper Savannah District of the Water Environment Association of South Carolina - WEASC hosts the annual Clean the Water Classic - benefit golf tournament for WEASC Scholarships and also Water Mission.

Our District Board members representing not only LCWSC, but also Greenwood Metropolitan District, Greenwood CPW, and City of Clinton, SC have been working to gather teams, sponsorships, donations, and prizes to make this a fun and unique event.

Our sponsorships have been AMAZING and we can't thank them enough. We can however share their names and ask you to thank them as well for their contributions to clean water both now and in the future.

Huge shoutout to our title sponsors for the second year in a row: CTR Coatings Carolinas Division, Goodwyn Mills Cawood, and Tom Brigman Contractors!

Looking forward to a fun day of golf Lakeside Country Club with lots of friends in the industry!

💧 Closing Water Quality Month by Celebrating the Team Behind Every Drop

Throughout August, four LCWSC employees reached important professional development milestones:

🔹 Josh Fridy passed Class A and Class B examinations in both Wastewater Collection and Water Distribution.
🔹 Steve Griffin passed the Water Distribution Class B Examination.
🔹 Ayden Rudder passed the Water Treatment Class C examination.
🔹 Devin Sullivan passed the Water Treatment Class D Examination. He also received an apprentice bonus from the National Rural Water Association (NRWA) for completing 1,000 hours of on-the-job training and 70 hours of classroom instruction as part of the SC Rural Water Association - SCRWA apprenticeship program.

These accomplishments represent different roles and stages of professional development, but each reflects the same commitment to learning, growth and service.

Water quality does not happen by accident—it requires trained, knowledgeable and experienced professionals working throughout the water and wastewater system. By investing in employee development, LCWSC strengthens our ability to provide safe, reliable and sustainable services while living out our values every day.

Congratulations, Josh, Steve, Ayden and Devin! Your dedication helps protect water quality and build a stronger LCWSC team.

🏃‍♀️🏈💧 LCWSC was honored to support the Laurens District 55 High School and Clinton Red Devils Cross Country teams during the 10th Annual Game Ball Run by providing water and hydration for both teams as they made their way from Laurens to Clinton.

This special tradition takes true community teamwork. We appreciate the Laurens County Sheriff's Office, Laurens Police Department, and Clinton Police Dept. for safely escorting the runners, along with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices and (Pebbles Ice Cream) for celebrating the teams at the finish.

Supporting our students and working alongside community organizations reflects LCWSC’s values in action—putting safety first, being proactive and serving as a trusted community partner.

Congratulations to both teams for continuing this wonderful Laurens County tradition!

🧻 Happy National Toilet Paper Day!

Here’s a bathroom reminder worth unrolling: Toilet paper is designed to break down quickly in water—but wipes, paper towels and other products are not, even when labeled “flushable.”

Protect your pipes and our wastewater system by remembering the Three Ps: only p*e, poo and toilet paper belong in the toilet!

🚽 When in doubt, throw it out.

💧🌎 TAPPED-IN TUESDAY | WORLD WATER WEEK

This Tapped-In Tuesday, we’re tapping into something bigger — World Water Week!

As the world focuses on the importance of water, we’re reminded that protecting this essential resource starts right here at home. From safeguarding our water sources to maintaining reliable infrastructure and planning for the future, it’s all part of our commitment to Trust in Every Drop.

And during Water Quality Month, there couldn’t be a better time to celebrate the value of water! 💙💧

🎥 Flowing into Friday: A Closer Look Underground

Earlier this week, we shared Crawford’s film crew capturing our water distribution team in action. Today, we’re highlighting our wastewater collection crew using specialized camera equipment to inspect sewer lines from the inside.

These inspections are part of LCWSC’s CMON program—Capacity, Management, Operations, and Maintenance—and help identify blockages, cracks, root intrusion and other concerns before they become larger problems.

Much of this essential work happens out of sight, and we’re honored to be a part of the South Carolina Water Workforce Collaborative's spotlight on the skilled professionals who keep our systems flowing.
