Another speckled hatching dozen off to Sternberg Farm! 🥰

Our sweet Cherry Pie is due any day with her 5th calf - her udder is starting to fill out, belly is dropping, hips and pins are becoming more obvious. She is one of our favorite Dexter ladies. All her calves come out sweet as pie. 😉🥰 She's had 2 boys and 2 girls so far so this year will be the tie breaker - what do you think it will be?

Also - thank goodness for a little rain. Our poor pastures are burnt to a crisp. 😭

Restock this upcoming weekend at The Farmstand! 😍🔥☕️

With benefits like immune system boosting, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, blood sugar control, circulation aid, a digestion tonic, and more, this is a staple for winter cabinets. You can make your own, or come by and grab a bottle! 😊

Today we lost the Matriarch of The Buckles Farm Olive Program. 😭

I noticed a couple weeks ago this older girl was acting off, and even after offering support she was still noticably declining. We decided today to let her rest after 6.5 years of life. Who knew back then that tiny chipmunk chick would contribute so much to our farm?

There is no telling how far her lineage stretches by now, as most of her eggs have been hatched the last 4 years by us or in hatching egg dozens. Her iconic deep purple bloom over a dark green and speckled egg inspired our love for breeding chickens and set the tone for the moody egg color pallette we have today.

Thank you for all you've done for our farm sweet lady! Your spirit lives on through your sons and daughters! 🥰

These fall hatching eggs are testing my patience. My marans are getting lectures every trip to the nesting box. 🤣 However, the olive's speckles and blooms are fire 🔥 right now and are making up for it. 😍
