Big news for small processors, farmers, ranchers, and LOCAL FOOD. 🇺🇸🥩
President Trump announced today that he wants to make it easier for small meat processors to serve farmers who want to sell their own locally raised meat directly to consumers without the current USDA-inspection barriers.
If this proposal moves forward, you best believe East 32 will be a resource for our local farmers and ranchers.
We would gladly work to feature local farms and locally raised meat in our cases, help promote the people who raised it, and give our community another way to KNOW where their food comes from.
And here’s the crazy part—we’ve already been working on ideas along these same lines for MONTHS.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with USDA inspection. In fact, there are situations where USDA inspection is important and gives producers opportunities they otherwise wouldn’t have. But there is also something powerful about giving a small farmer a realistic path to raise an animal, have it professionally processed, and sell that quality meat directly to families in their own community.
Right now, time matters.
When families have better access to locally raised, quality meat—and when their dollars can stay right here with local farmers, ranchers, processors, and small businesses—EVERYONE wins.
Better access to real food.
More opportunities for our farmers.
Stronger local businesses.
A stronger local food system.
We’ll be watching this one VERY closely.
And if it becomes reality, East 32 intends to be ready. 🥩🇺🇸🌾
Support your farmer. Know your processor. Know where your food comes from.
