A good day to build some fence! We are using the wonderfully non-windy weather to turn a temporary fence into something permanent.

Do yโ€™all have any 20yr projects planned this spring?

๐Ÿ‘€ Seeing double

A few times each calving season we welcome twins! It is rare, though not unheard of, for a beef cow to raise both babies so we graft or sell the extra calf. This time of year calves are in high demand so this little heifer is already on the way to her new home!

โ„๏ธ Spring snow

The barn is warm, momma cows are close, and calf shelters are full of straw, and we've got our Carhartts on.

โ“ Did you know: Cows may look cold with snow on their backs but it is actually a sign of a healthy animal. Snow that does not melt off right away indicates there is little heat loss and the cow is insulated against the elements. If the snow is melted off it can be a sign of a stressed or sick animal.

These ladies get bonus points for snuggling up together out of the wind.

Stay safe out there y'all!

๐ŸŒพ We put fresh straw in the barn just before the wind picked up! Cows and calves will have an extra luxurious calving experience going into the weekend. ๐Ÿฎ

โ“ Did you know the Larson barn was built back in 1917 by John L. Larson? Over the years it's been known to host a variety of beef cattle, milk cows, a handful of goats, horses, kittens, hide and seek, along with dances and basketball games in the loft.

๐Ÿฅถ "It wouldn't be so bad except for the wind." We're layering up today to beat the damp breezy outdoors.

Thankful for warm cozy barns today!

๐™๐™๐™–๐™ฃ๐™  ๐™ฎ๐™ค๐™ช to all who bought, bid and attended our 48th annual production sale. It was wonderful to see both familiar and new faces at Lemmon Livestock.

So many of you have been with us for a lot of sales. I was talking with a customer today and asked him how long heโ€™s been buying Larson bulls. He came to our last sale in Lemmon in the 80s before we moved to Kist Livestock in Mandan. We were at Kist for 33 years and now in Lemmon since 2019. So thatโ€™s over 40 years of XL genetics!

I am thankful for the loyalty shown to our program and itโ€™s wonderful to see the next generation customers in the stands. It is truly humbling and we deeply appreciate all of you.

I am gradually stepping back from cow ownership and my son Todd will soon be at the helm of our SimAngus program. He is very capable and God willing will continue to offer the kind of bulls that work well in our environment. Once again, a heart felt thank you for your support!

-Bill
