At Husker Harvest Days, we connected with producers from across the state to share research, listen and provide tools and resources they can put to work.

We also announced the new Nebraska Digital Ag Hub — bringing producers, researchers, Nebraska Extension and industry together to develop and test emerging technologies with producers’ needs at the center.

🌱 "Don’t sleep on soybeans."

There may be more soybean yield potential on the table than farmers realize. But hidden yield robbers, including disease and SCN, could be standing in the way.

Red crown rot is spreading across the Midwest and getting dangerously close to Nebraska. It hasn’t been confirmed in the state, but researchers say it may already be there.

The disease can look a lot like sudden death syndrome, and in one Illinois field, a farmer reportedly saw losses of 40 bushels per acre. Now, Nebraska Extension researchers are digging deeper into red crown rot and other hidden threats that could be costing farmers yield.

There’s no shortage of new technology in agriculture. The challenge is making sure it works for producers.

The new Nebraska Digital Ag Hub is bringing together University of Nebraska–Lincoln researchers, Nebraska Extension professionals, students, producers and industry to develop and improve digital agriculture technologies with producers’ needs at the center.

From precision irrigation and nutrient management to robotics, remote sensing, artificial intelligence and livestock technologies, the goal is to turn new technology and data into tools producers can put to work.

Kyle Broderick shares the story of a surprise package that arrived at the Backyard Farmer office from Denise Blevins in Greeley, Colorado. Denise recognized slime mold in her yard from watching the show, took some photos, and entered them in her county fair’s floral photography competition. 📸🌸 She won an eighth-place ribbon—and then sent the ribbon to Kyle!
But Kyle has a different opinion…
