“Team Nebraska” checked in at the 2026 National ProStart Invitational, with Papillion La Vista High School representing Nebraska in the culinary competition.

This premier national event brings together 400+ top high school students from across the country to compete for scholarships and showcase their skills in culinary arts and restaurant management.

We’re proud to support Team Nebraska by sponsoring the back of their chef jackets at this year’s competition in Baltimore!

What a great couple of days at the Washington and Dodge County Ag Festival!

Nearly 500 students from six local schools learned about pig vocabulary, pork cuts, and how pigs are raised from the farrowing house to the finishing barn. We also highlighted how modern barns use technology to keep pigs comfortable and how feed moves from the silo to the barn. Students even had the opportunity to sample ham, helping bring the farm-to-fork connection full circle!

NPPA was excited to have a bold presence at the 2026 Nebraska Dietetic Association Conference in Lincoln this week! NPPA had an exhibit booth, provided delicious pork tenderloin for lunch, placed Taste What Pork Can Do swag in the conference goodie bags, and sponsored a general session speaker, Culinary Dietitian Chef Amber Pankonin. Her presentation, “The Flavor Vehicle: Using Pork and Sensory Science to Elevate Nutrition, Plants & Plates” was well received by the 150+ dietitians who attended the conference.

Nebraska pork producers were hard at work this week in Washington, D.C., advocating on behalf of our state’s pork industry and its future.

Throughout the week, the group met with members of Nebraska’s congressional delegation to discuss key priorities, including the need for a legislative fix to Proposition 12 through the Farm Bill, support for U.S. SHIP funding, and the importance of maintaining strong trade agreements like the United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement (USMCA).

Thank you to the producers who took time away from their operations to be in D.C. and share real-world perspectives on how these issues impact their operations and livelihoods.

“Too Many Cooks” was too much fun (as per usual)! The Omaha Restaurant Association’s (ORA) annual gala and fundraiser supports hunger relief and culinary scholarships in the Omaha metro. NPPA signed on as Silver Spoon sponsor and gifted each participating chef with a customized engraved cutting board. Pork was plentiful across the menus created by 21 of Omaha’s hottest chefs! Buffalo-Style Pork Croquettes, Pork & Clams, Red Chili Braised Pork, Pork Secreto Salad and even a Yorkshire Suckling Milk Fed Pig Rack were just a few of the unique pork offerings making an appearance at Sunday evening’s event!
