🐔 Chicken Confessions🐔
Meet Heather.
Heather is a friendly chicken and, unfortunately for her, the family favorite. Homestead 101 says you should never pick a favorite chicken because the favorite is usually the one who gets eaten or mysteriously disappears. Heather has apparently decided she is going to beat the odds.
She follows the family around the yard like she has important business to attend to and has made it very clear that she considers herself part of the household.
Her favorite place, however, is the garage.
Legend has it that Heather once spent an entire night in the garage. She surely would have met her fate of starvation if Feed Lady hadn't needed to run errands the next morning and discovered her. Heather also frequently lays her eggs in the garage, because apparently the nesting boxes provided specifically for this purpose simply aren't up to her standards.
Most of the eggs she lays in there end up cracked, or we find them several days later and they're too old to eat anyway. But Heather doesn't seem particularly concerned about this.
At this point, Heather has perfected the art of freeloading. She follows the family around, sleeps in the garage, lays her eggs wherever she pleases, and contributes very little to the household.
And somehow, she's still the favorite.
The odds have been beaten. The freeloader lives on.
