We kicked off the weekend with getting our forage sorhgum planted and rolled in the ground!

Its our 1st time planting it and we are hoping for a bumper crop!

When your youngest farm hand leans over and says "Dad can I bale a couple windrows" You let him finish the night baling the rest of the hay! Which was way more than a couple rows!

His legs might not be long enough to quite push the clutch in all the way but the rest of the functions hes got it down!

It doesent come with a fixed schedule.

You work 356 days a year....

When there is time away from the farm your mind in still there . One of the joys of being "self employed"

You go when the weather lets you go!

Everything has window of time that things need to be done

Its a hard concept to understand for some

It tore me up alittle bit tonight when my wife told me our boys played an awsome baseball game and i missed it

With a storm coming in tommorrow possible producing over 1in of rain the corn needed to get in the ground or the consquence of it being too wet to plant for another whole week.

So we worked our 8-5 day jobs and then ran home and headed for the fields will the early morning hours!

Its a labor of love although wet springs like this make it stressful, but we find away threw it

May is National Beef Month! Heres a recap on our month so far
✔️ Finished calving
✔️ Went to Saratoga Springs to attend a beef workshop on breaking down a carcass and maximizing all of the cuts available to us.
✔️ Trimmed all momma cows feet before they went out to pasture
✔️ Turned mama's and babies out on grass for the summer.

Still lots left to do but we are checking things off our list one by one. If only the weather would decide it was May we would be in better shape.
