Request your free consultation at www.DeerpointGroup.com Deerpoint Group is a team of people who put the grower first, who brings a deep understanding and respect for agriculture, with a passion for creating innovative solutions to grower challenges. We welcome the opportunity to listen to your needs and develop a sensible strategy to meet them. With our technical expertise, experience, methodology, and operational capacity, Deerpoint Group is uniquely qualified to solve your challenges, and committed to being accountable for the outcome. Originally based in Fresno, CA, Deerpoint Group was built on the philosophy of providing our customers with programs that truly define full service. For example, all of the on-ranch work, including chemical delivery, material feeding, equipment maintenance, and reporting, would be performed by Deerpoint Group field service technicians. This unique approach – coupled with superior product quality and patented delivery systems – set Deerpoint Group apart from day one. California’s Central Coast vineyards were the initial market opportunity for our unique programs. More and more grape growers were converting to drip/micro-irrigation technology, but they were encountering plugged systems due to the interaction of certain fertilizers with poor quality water. Frustrated by frequently replacing costly sections of their drip systems, growers were grateful for Deerpoint Group’s innovative solution: a preventative maintenance/continuous chemical feed program and regular site visits by our field personnel. Our business expanded rapidly on the coast, from vineyards to neighboring strawberry fields, and then to leafy greens growers who counted on Deerpoint Group for pathogen bacteria control. As Deerpoint Group’s reputation grew, so did the company, expanding to cover all of the farming areas in California, and then into Arizona. We soon discovered that the precision approach we took in treating water was perfectly adaptable to fertilization. In 2009, Deerpoint Group’s chemical technologies expanded to include innovative fertilizers, micronutrients, and foliar products, including our patented “white box” and customer-applied fertilizers. And we also saw explosive growth in precision-fed, patented fertilizers at customer irrigation system sites. It quickly became clear that the increased business would require more operational space. So Deerpoint Group relocated to a larger 10,000 sq. warehouse facility in northwest Fresno and, shortly thereafter, another 10,000 sq. Even this would prove to be a temporary solution to our growing needs. In 2015, the company acquired a 12-acre site in nearby Madera, CA, and embarked on a large-scale construction project for our main headquarters. In April of 2016, Deerpoint Group opened the doors of our new facility, with 50,000 sq. of office and warehouse space and a chemical blending facility. More expansions were completed in 2018, 2019 and 2020, including our own fleet of Deerpoint Group delivery trucks, a weigh scale and an additional 60,000 sq. of chemical blending, reactors and chemical storage. Future plans include the completion of a 40-car rail spur. While we are proud of our growth and expansion through the years, we are equally proud that our Deerpoint Group facilities recycle all materials and produce zero discharge. Our state-of-the-art laboratory houses all of the highly specialized analytical equipment and our team of trained professionals to support our customers with soil, water, and tissue analysis. While Deerpoint Group has come a long way since our humble beginnings, we remain committed to the R&D efforts that have always enabled us to produce unique and innovative products and programs. We’re proud to have helped so many growers overcome challenges to achieve spectacular results, and just as proud that our journey has led Deerpoint Group to the forefront of our industry as a leading manufacturer of the highest quality, effectively priced grower-friendly fertilizer solutions.

Bryant Aguilera, crop manager at Harris Farms, just hit 100 tons per acre across an entire tomato field in Coalinga. It's the first time they've had a whole field max out like that, with multiple varieties.

He did it in a season where he was also growing carrots and watermelons, running planters and harvesters, and scheduling water across all of it.

Nutrition was the one job he didn't have to staff. With a DPG White Box™, product delivery and application run continuously in the background, so nobody on his crew spends their day thinking about fertilizer.

Planning 2027 tomatoes? We're happy to walk you through how Bryant's program was set up.

Agronomy Magazine recently got some nitrogen timing insights from Deerpoint's own Director of Grower Relations, Jeff Carr.

He was asked about how he chooses priority for nitrogen application timing to balance workload, risk of loss, and yield for Deerpoint's growers, as well as what soil type or weather does to his timing strategy.

Check out Agronomy Magazine's latest article about nitrogen to see his responses!

You wouldn't drink a week's worth of water on Monday morning. So why feed your crop that way?

Our CEO Mike Hemman joined Chad on the How We Grow podcast to talk about spoon-feeding crops, what a fully managed nutrition program actually looks like, and why the blend should change as fast as the field does.

Before you lock in your fertility program for this allium planting, a heads-up worth factoring in: the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's forecasters are now putting the odds of a very strong El Niño this winter above 90%, with real odds that it ends up the strongest on record since 1950.

For onion and garlic growers, that creates a question not just around irrigation, but nutrition.

A wet growing season changes the math on how you feed the crop. Heavy, periodic applications (aka slug feeds) are exactly the kind of program that gets punished when rain shows up. Nutrients leach straight past the root zone before the plant ever gets to use them. Plus, a string of wet days can shrink your irrigation windows to the point where a program built around big applications simply doesn't have a window to go out at all.

This is exactly what the DPG White Box™ was built for. The system runs on UC research behind high-frequency, low-concentration (HFLC) fertigation: small, consistent nutrient doses delivered with every irrigation cycle instead of banked in a few heavy applications.

The HFLC system already fits onions and garlic well, since they're shallow-rooted crops that need frequent irrigation to begin with. Plus, the system automatically adjusts pumps to apply fertilizer at a faster rate if applications are getting behind due to rain. So all your nutrients are still being delivered in the most beneficial amounts without you needing to think about it.

The planning decisions you make now are what the crop runs on through a winter that's shaping up to be a wet one. Let's schedule an on-site evaluation so we can build a plan around your fields and this forecast.

Not every farm hazard shows up all at once.

Skin cancer is one of the most common, and most overlooked, occupational risks in ag. It builds quietly, season after season, from sun exposure that just comes with the job.

The fix is seriously low-effort and none of us have any excuses:
- Broad-spectrum SPF. Make sure to get that driver-side arm extra well!
- A wide brim hat, not just a ball cap.
- Long sleeves in a breathable fabric.
- Sunglasses that block UV.
- We would recommend a skin check with your doctor once a year but we know you probably won't do it. So make sure you're checking off all the others!

That's the final post for our Farm Safety and Health Week lineup. From all of us at Deerpoint, work safe out there.

To celebrate National Farm Safety and Health week, we'll be sharing tips, tricks, and facts all week.

When harvest is running, lunch is often whatever's within arm's reach. And you probably didn't get a chance for breakfast.

Five minutes to actually eat something nutritious is cheaper than the mistake that happens when you're running on empty and can't think straight at hour ten in your day.

The combo that holds up through a long day: protein + complex carbs.

Here are some things that can travel well in the truck:
🥚 Hard-boiled eggs
🐂 Jerky
🌰 Trail mix or nuts
🍎 Fruit
🧂Electrolyte packets for your water bottle

What's in your lunch box?

The calendar may say it's officially fall, but the weather apps disagree.

Heat illness is still a serious threat during harvest. It can move fast and the early signs are easy to wave off when there's still so much to finish.

Heat exhaustion can look like heavy sweating, cool/clammy skin, dizziness, headache, nausea, or a fast but weak pulse (this author experienced it in the form of dizziness + muffled hearing).

Symptoms of heat stroke include hot, dry or damp skin, confusion, a very high body temperature, and can include loss of consciousness.

The rule of thumb is pretty simple: drink water before you're thirsty. Rest before you're completely wiped out. Spend some time in shade before you feel you need it.

Keep an eye on your crew and yourself. The person most likely to push through warning signs is usually the one running the operation.

Harvest doesn't just run equipment hard, it runs people hard.

Long hours, weather you can't control, markets you can't control, and often not much time to talk to anyone outside the operation. That combination can creating feelings of isolation, even when the season goes well.

This week is a good excuse to actually ask your colleagues how they're doing, and mean it.

Quick myth check while harvest traffic is in full swing: is white the safest color to have on your equipment, or on you, out in the field?

The answer is no! The colors that actually register the fastest to the human eye are fluorescent yellow-green and fluorescent orange-red, not white. White doesn't hold up against a bright sky, dust, or headlight glare as well as fluorescent does.

If you're moving equipment this week, check that SMV triangles are clean and visible, reflective tape is intact on the rear and sides, and anyone working near traffic or moving equipment has a hi-vis vest on.
