If you’re a cow/calf operator and your primary way to market your calves at weaning, the trait that matters most is cow fertility.

The fertility of your cows drives profitability.

Why? At the end of the day, you’re running a certain number of cows on your ranch. Barring a drought year, weaning weights tend to remain relatively stable over time, with perhaps a slight upward trend.

If you run the same number of cows and have about the same weaning weight, fertility is the most significant driver in our cow herd because more cows bred = more calves born = more pounds weaned.

From top to bottom, this trait can generate over $100 in profitability per cow per year.

The formula for increased fertility in your cow herd:
- Buy high cow fertility bulls
- Retain your highest $PROFIT®, $RANCH®, or fertility cows.

Fall sales will be here before you know it, so if you’re looking to inject some fertility into your cow herd (and some money in your pocket) make sure you’re on the mailing list!

After years of breeding straight Angus, Kelly Noble knew something had to change. "I was losing a lot of weaning weight, and a lot of vigor."

He decided to try Leachman. It was simple, and the catalog made sense. Five years later, weaning weights are up by 50 pounds, the calves are fleshier, the cows are deeper-bodied, and last year 100% of his heifers were bred at preg check.

You can’t argue with that.

Blue skies are here–and so is the heat!

If you’re feeling the heat and also want the advantage of hybrid vigor and consistency, the Leachman Stabilizer® is what you need.

“When I’m selecting bulls, it’s $PROFIT® no matter what. Not two herds, not two systems. $PROFIT® tells me which bulls will pay.” – Mike Inglish, Grandview Ranch, Como, MS.

Like most beef producers, Mike runs cattle in tough country and doesn’t care to gamble time or money on genetics that won’t deliver.

That’s exactly what $PROFIT® is for. One number that balances all the tradeoffs, no guesswork. Simplicity with long-term results.

There are many approaches to longevity and overall cow-herd age. Some producers cull after 10, no matter what. Others look at averages. Others look at individual production stats or scores.

No matter what the rule of thumb, what we’re actually talking about is productivity *and* longevity.

Longevity isn't just about keeping cows longer. It's about keeping the RIGHT cows longer—the ones that stay productive, are easy keepers, and don't require extra inputs.

A cow that doesn’t have major disposition or conformation issues, breeds back, calves unassisted, weans a nice calf, and does it year after year? Yes please! A whole herd of those? Absolutely.

We like to call those “Problem-free.” (Or, you know, profitable.)

Structural soundness, fertility, efficiency, udder quality, temperament—these all factor into whether a cow makes it to year 10 or gets culled at 4.

Quality + longevity = profitability.
