While the mamas are busy eating, it's a great time to check on all the babies. Make sure everyone is healthy, count the number of males/females, and enjoy being so close to these cute little newborns.

On our farm, we like to take the most natural and hands-off approach to raising animals. For two reasons:

1) it allows the animals to be as close to their natural selves as possible. Free of almost any human intervention, medication, assistance. They can breed naturally, give birth naturally, make nests and find the best location, food, shade, etc. that allows them to thrive.

2) for practical reasons, we cannot afford (emotionally, physically, mentally) to be incredibly hands-on for all of our animals, which at this point is hundreds of sheep, cows, chickens, ducks, turkeys, pigs, and farm dogs.

While there is always occasional sickness or injury, the truth is these animals at Apollo Acres are living their best life and are all the better for it. So grateful to have this farm that we can enjoy with them.

Farrowing at Apollo Acres has begun! First piglet was born this morning to an appropriately named Big Momma. Mothers are expected to farrow in the next week or so, so we're hopeful to have lots of little piglets running around

THIS is what your dollar can support.

Ducks, hens, and sheep. Out on real grass, living the way they’re meant to. No staging and no marketing...Just everyday life on a local farm.

When you buy local, your money goes straight back into YOUR community...not into layers of branding and middlemen.

This photo didn't require multiple people's salaries to market it or even any editing. It’s just what we see every day.

You vote three times a day with your dollar.
Vote for local. Vote for wholesome. Vote for feel-good food.

Things can get prettyyyy backed up on these here roads. I have run into a dog, a chicken, or a sheep so many times while stuck behind them on my way to feed them. It's much less stressful than the highway rush hour, though. πŸ˜†

Congratulations to this proud new mama! πŸ‘πŸΌ

Wait, not this goofy farm dog that's allowing the newborn lamb to try and nurse on her. I mean the actual mom in the background who just had twins yesterday.

Oh, we've come a long way from the beginning of our farm adventure. With 6 chicks brought home in a happy meal box and a book called "You Can Farm".

Every waking minute has been devoted to producing enough meat to fill this board up. The past nine months that Matt has been on the farm full time has been an incredible blessing and adventure. And we're seeing all the intense labor, stress, focus and energy paying off (literally and figuratively πŸ™πŸ»).

Thank you for supporting our small local dream. πŸ’•

Rogue chicken that won't sleep in the coop or lay in a nest box. She always finds a random spot to lay an egg. I was lucky enough to be sitting right there so I grabbed my phone and actually got it on video!

Another Subaru promotion they didn't realize they needed. (First one was transporting sheep across state lines in the trunk). 😜

Subaru + off road farm terrain + farm animals = happy farmer πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸŒΎ
