I’m at the point where I’m done… and it breaks my heart to even say that.
Nine months ago my miniature Jersey got out and was bred by a full-size bull. While I was out of town, she went into labor and tried to deliver a calf that was way too big for her. I came home to a nightmare…. she had a dead calf stuck halfway out, and there was nothing that could be done in time.
At this point, she’s not going to recover. She can’t stand, and it’s very likely there’s severe nerve damage. A mini her size should have a 20 to 25 pound calf max. The calf that was pulled out of her was every bit of 60

Because of this, I’ve made the decision to sell all of my miniature cattle. I can’t go through something like this again. And there’s other things going on anyways. I won’t be able to keep any of them.

They are my babies 😭

It’s like trying to wrangle a fuzzy bulldozer that knows exactly how adorable it is.

With the storm coming, I’ve been thinking about what getting ready for it really looks like out here. For us, it’s filling water tanks, making sure the tank heaters are working, making sure hay is full, bedding for mini cows and mini horses is in place, and keeping the chickens warm, fed, and out of the wind.
It’s long days and longer nights, watching the weather, breaking ice, and hoping everyone makes it through safely.
Animals don’t get to opt out of the cold, and caring for them in storms like this is both a responsibility and a labor of love.
I’m praying for protection over our animals and for everyone else doing the same.

Please keep farmers and ranchers in your prayers. 🙏
