Does The GOAT in Sussex have Friday fish fry? Totes ma-goats, they do!

Another trip out to Sussex, this time to "The GOAT" bar & grill (at the corner of Main & Silver Spring). It's a relatively new place, opened just a couple summers ago, and makes everything from scratch, including this tasty fish fry 😋

Featuring three pieces of fresh cod, fried up in a thin and crunchy breading - it's served along with a side of crispy fries (or potato pancakes), plus coleslaw, tartar, lemon, marble rye, and applesauce 🐟👍

The GOAT theme is shown throughout the restaurant - it's a combination of greatness (famous athlete, music artists, and more), but also goats 🐐, including a live stream of the roof up at Al Johnson's so that you can watch the goats graze while you do, too 😁

🚨 Everyday fish fry alert! 🚨

The weather today may be soggy, but the food is crispy at Crispy City (at 98th and Oklahoma in Milwaukee) 😀

Crispy City is a new restaurant on the southwest side of town, having opened just a few months ago. Their slogan: "The ultimate crunch in every bite". This place has a huuuge menu, featuring fried chicken (pieces, tenders, and more), sandwiches, tons of sides, plus Middle Eastern favorites like sheesh tawook, falafel, taboule, and even things like lamb chops and whole rotisserie chickens!

In addition to all that, and the reason for today's visit: their seafood options. You can pick from catfish, ocean perch, shrimp, and this choice here: the fried cod combo

Available as two or three pieces of bright white fish in an absolutely perfect thin but complete breading, with a crunch you'd expect from a place with "crispy" in the name. Served along with a substantial amount of very crunchy (and spicy seasoned) fries, plus a dinner roll and drink 👍🐟

Based on the cod breading, plus the photos of their other food, I'm pretty confident the rest of the menu items will be just as tasty - I'll be back to check out those shrimp 😋

There's Trouble a-brewin' at Central Waters Brewing! 🍻

When we talk about hidden gem fish frys, we usually mean something off the beaten path, or tucked away in a neighborhood. Today's Friday fish fry might be the most literal use of the phrase.

Trouble Makers' Cocina, a Milwaukee Latin Fusion restaurant (that also runs a mobile kitchen truck and does catering) is hidden away in the Central Waters Brewing Company on 10th and Juneau in the Brewery district.

Is there a big sign outside? No, just a small sign on the door directing you upstairs to the back corner of the tap room, where they operate a kitchen for to go orders, or enjoy your meal there with a beer or two.

In addition to their menu of tacos, small (and big) bites, they offer a Friday fish fry that is simply delicious 😋

Big pieces of tender cod, dipped in a Central Waters Honey Blonde ale batter and fried up crisp, perfectly prepared with crunch, and served atop a heaping portion of spicy seasoned shoestring fries, plus some of their ancho chipotle coleslaw, house-made tartar, and tasty buttered and griddled toast points. ¡Que bueno! 👍🐟

Waddle Inn to a Friday fish fry! 🦆

I flew on over to The Waddle Inn (and boy, are my arms tired?) on North Ave near 68th to pick up a lunch fish fry from a recently refreshed location that you might remember being Growlers East Tosa before its rebranding

This neighborhood bar has weekend brunch, wings, sandwiches, and (after 4pm) some elevated main course plates that sound pretty darn good, but today, we're here for the fish fry 😋

Three strips of Atlantic cod, fried up in a nice, medium-thickness batter with a light flavor. The fish itself had bright white flakes and good flavor. Accompanied by potato pancakes or these great crispy seasoned waffle fries, plus tartar, house-made coleslaw and lemon (also marble rye, but I think mine just got missed - no big deal, I forgot to check before I left) 🐟

The after 4pm menu also has a parmesan crusted walleye and blackened salmon, so if you want to try the trifecta of fish options, stop on by on a Friday night (the walleye and salmon are also available daily) 👍

Feeling lucky today? Stop on by Zaners Club Shamrock for a Friday fish fry! 🍀

Located on 164 in Big Bend (near Edgewood Ave) is this local small town bar cooking up burgers, sandwiches, pizza, and a hidden gem of a fish fry 😋

Available Fridays are several options, including this beer battered cod: available as a 2 or 3 piece, it has one of the thinnest beer batter coatings I can remember but still holds up quite nice, with great flakes of fish. Served along with a side of potato pancakes or these tasty shoestring fries (also baked potatoes later in the evening), plus marble rye, tartar and coleslaw 🐟

They also have perch, walleye, shrimp, and baked cod on the menu along with combo meals to combine some of those choices, so plenty of reason to return and try them all 👍

🚨 Everyday fish fry alert! 🚨

I tried Mr. Chicken 🍗 (at 33rd and Loomis in Greenfield) a while back to check out their tasty chicken (it's in the name, after all), but noted a need to return and give their fish a try, and today's the day 😋

They have options on their menu for fried tilapia, catfish, or this option here: cod

In each case, they're available as a 2, 4 or 6 piece. When in doubt, I did what Goldilocks would do and chose the "just right" 4 piece and had plenty of food!

The pieces of cod are huge with great flake, and their breading and spice mix give a nice little kick of flavor. Paired with a side - I'd recommend their potato wedges as some of the better wedges in the area, with a nice breaded crunch and that same flavorful spice blend 👍🐟

🚨 Everyday fish fry alert! 🚨

New Orleans may have Fat Tuesday, but in West Allis you can have Fat's Friday (or any other day, for that matter) 😁

Located on HWY 100, between National and Oklahoma, Fat's "Bite This" is a relatively new restaurant (opened just under a year ago, in the old Applebee's location). Their menu features burgers, sandwiches, pizzas and more, as well as an everyday fish fry!

Available as a two or three piece cod, they use Yuengling beer batter that has a pepper-y kick and a nice balance of crunch and doughy-ness. Paired with a side, like their Fat's Famous Fries (it IS national Fry day, after all), plus tartar and coleslaw 🐟👍

A nice, sunny day (or, at least it was at the time) for al fresco Friday fish fry 😎

Stopped by Third Space Brewing's Innovation Brewhouse for lunch today (located on Appleton Ave and Good Hope Rd in Menomonee Falls - you might remember this as the former site of Trysting Place Pub) - they just celebrated 2 years at this location last month, and have a wonderful dog-friendly covered patio, plus an area for live music, a firepit and more! I just recently realized they had a fish fry, so I had to go check it out

Featuring three pieces of cod in a batter made with their very own Pretty Good Amber beer, it has a great crunchy shell that gave way to perfectly tender fish inside. Paired with a side of scratch-made potato pancakes, chips, or these fantastic skin on fries, plus coleslaw, tartar and spent grain bread 🐟🍻

Yes, there's even a fish fry at Summerfest 😎

Down at Summerfest for a chilly evening of live music and saw The Wisconsin Table concession stand (near the north gate in the food court village), which has things like hot ham and rolls, relish trays, and this fish fry

Available every day of the festive, it features two pieces of crunchy battered fish, plus fries, rye bread and a slightly confusing pasta salad instead of coleslaw 🤷‍♂️

Rumor has it Sussex has a tasty fish fry 😁

Popped up to Sussex to pick up today's Friday fish fry from Rumors Sports Bar & Grill (southwest corner of Waukesha Ave and Main St) - they have several options, including this veritable fry-fecta feast known as the Northwoods Seafood Platter!

Featuring two tender pieces of cod and two big pieces of perch, both in a tasty herb-infused breading with a nice crunch, plus four panko breaded jumbo shrimp, plus side (sidewinder twisty fries!), plus buttered marble rye bread, plus coleslaw, tartar and cocktail sauce. 🐟👍

Summerfest? More like summer-feast, amirite? 🔥
