Thank you to Catmando's for hosting us this past Friday night for a pre-festival Tap Takeover…great times were had! 😎😺

To top it off, yesterday was truly a beautiful day for UPtoberfest…it doesn’t get much better than that! ☀️ Thank you to all that stopped by our table for some pours, and to all of the volunteers that make the event seamless for all! 🍺🍷

This upcoming Sunday, George Schultz will officially be inducted into the Lakeland University Muskies Athletic Hall of Fame 💪🏈🙌

For those who may know George as owner of ByGeorge Brewing Co., or even from behind the counter at Putvin Drug Store…it’s truly remarkable to glance back at what he accomplished on the football field! 👀

From 1995 through 1997, the Muskies went 24-5-1 overall and 14-2 in conference play—one of Lakeland’s best stretches in program history. George was one of the leaders, helping Lakeland to win two Illini-Badger conference championship titles.

In 1995 — George was named the team’s “Most Valuable Receiver”.

In 1996 — George led the team in scoring with 11 touchdowns, and the Muskies won the conference championship.

In 1997 — Lakeland went undefeated. 10-0. Schultz led the team in receptions, while also earning the title of “Offensive MVP”.

By the end of his career, George had accumulated 178 receptions and 1800 yards. He graduated as Lakeland’s all-time receptions leader…and is still 3rd all-time today!

But it didn’t stop there.

George also served as the team’s punter — finishing 13th overall in net punting for Division III in 1997. He punted 7 times for 227 yards, an average of 32.4 yards and a long of 63 yards.

Schultz was a three-time First Team All-Illini-Badger conference selection, Preseason Academic All-American, played in the All-American Bowl at the Metrodome in Minneapolis…consistency, production and versatility. 🏆🏅

Now nearly three decades later, George Schultz (‘98) will join the Lakeland University Athletic Hall of Fame.
