Our hearts are full of gratitude for everyone who joined us, donated, volunteered, sponsored, bid in the auction, shared our mission, and helped make DINNER AT THE RANCH such a special evening.

Ever notice how the “walls” of a classroom can sometimes lead to more friction between kids? New research published this year confirms what we see every day at Connolly Ranch.

A 2026 study by Akande et al. found that outdoor learning environments are a game-changer for social-emotional growth:

• 🤝 Cooperative behavior jumps from 25% indoors to 45% outdoors.
• 🌈 Positive emotional expression doubles (60% vs. 30%).
• 📉 Disruptive behavior drops by two-thirds.

At the Ranch, we use these “open-air labs” to help children practice empathy, negotiation, and stewardship. When they learn to help each other move a log or tend a garden, they’re building the skills to help the world.

This week was all about flores! Our Playschoolers dived into the flower cycle, learning how every petal helps our pollinators like bees and butterflies thrive. 🐝🦋

The Highlights:

🌸Flower Power: We explored the parts of a flower and practiced the “pick only one” rule to ensure our garden friends have plenty to eat.

🐽Ranch Chores: We tucked sunflower seeds into the soil and refreshed the pig pens with cozy new bedding.

💜Made with Love: Using pressed flowers and “gentle hands,” we crafted heartfelt Mother’s Day cards to celebrate the special people in our lives.

It was a beautiful week of noticing the small details that make our world bloom!

What happens when the sun goes down at the Ranch? 🌙✨

For our Stewards (ages 9–12), the adventure doesn’t end at 3:00 PM. The highlight of their summer is the legendary Steward Overnight—a chance to experience Connolly Ranch under the stars.

From evening animal checks and campfire stories to waking up with the roosters, it’s a rite of passage that builds independence, deepens friendships, and creates memories.

The countdown is ON! 🗓️ There are only 47 days until the first day of Summer Camp (June 15th)!

We still have a few openings for Stewards to join the magic during our middle sessions. If your camper is ready to step up their leadership and experience the ranch after dark, grab these spots before they’re gone:
