Merida and Frankie- always two of my favorite doe fleeces - graced the stand earlier this week . These good looking gals will hopefully be bred to little Earl Studley this month. Can’t wait to see the outcome! There’s still some room on our waitlist if anyone is interested in 2027 kids!

Neko (we are sticking with musician names this year) had her first haircut this week! I can’t say she was thrilled with it, but man does she have a nice fleece! The handle is incredible , with equally as good length and consistency. And I’m pleased without easy she dehairs - definitely better than her mom and a great ratio of guard hair to prime fiber. Now I just need to work on making her love me more because at this point she is one of our shyest goats.

Figgy Puddin’ also had a haircut this week. He gave us 44 ounces of fiber! I think that’s a winner for the most we’ve ever gotten off one goat even though he is a petite buck especially when you see him beside George. His fiber is very type A this go around, though he’s originally typed as a B. He is also still looking for ladies of his own!

Bagels are in the Farm store this afternoon 2 to 630. This week and next week are the last two Fridays for the Farm store and for bagels. After that we will be open Tuesdays for the rest of October. Bagels and bread can be ordered all winter for Tuesday pick up. So stop in today for the second to last Friday Market of the year!

and pawpaw bread is in the works, but won’t be ready until tomorrow so stop out to the Sidney farmers market 8 to 12!

Grumpy goat King George had his haircut this week. Though he was probably a little past his prime he still gave us a gorgeous fleece to work with. It’s a little curlier and has more luster than his previous fleeces so is presenting more like a type B fleece this time around. And I just weighed it at a hair over 30 ounces! If someone doesn’t take him soon, I am going to change my mind and buy him a couple does of his own!

Barn, clean out week! So far we’re only a third of the way done. The deep litter method is fantastic for keeping the animals warm in the winter, but a pain in the butt to clean up. Luckily the antique manure spreader is working great this year 🤞and there is someone that loves manure or spreading day… Otis is in heaven with all these pieces strewn all over the driveway!

Edit-today 9/25!
This is the last of the farmers market programs put on by OSU extension. Will be at Pleasant Hill with all our peppers, potatoes and garlic. Hope your kids are hungry for some veggies!

For everyone else, the Farm store will be open 2 to 630 today. And don’t worry we have so many peppers. The kids won’t get them all! Stop out for the last taste of summer before it’s too late.
