We’re deeply saddened to share that our final founding partner, Ronald L. Keigley, passed away this past Monday, February 16, 2026.
With Ron’s passing, an era truly comes to a close. Ron was one of the three original owners of Red Hen Turf Farm, founded in 1957 alongside his brother Victor R. W. Keigley and their partner Harold Hetler. Together, they built more than a business — they built a legacy grounded in hard work, integrity, and lasting relationships.
When the founders retired in 1983, the Millar family was honored to purchase the farm and carry that work forward. What began as a bold vision among partners has continued to grow and proudly serve our communities for nearly 70 years.
Ron was steady, practical, and deeply committed — to the land, to the work, and to the people around him. Those of us who had the privilege of knowing him understand that his impact reaches far beyond acres of turf. The values he helped establish and the example he set continue to shape who we are.
We will especially miss Ron’s visits to the farm, which he continued to make faithfully year after year. It meant a great deal to see him here — with his big smile, his joking nature, still interested, still invested, still part of the Red Hen family.
Today, we’re not just remembering a founder — we’re honoring a life well lived and a legacy that continues to shape Red Hen.
Ron’s loving family has written a beautiful tribute to his life, which can be viewed here:
