Icelandic Provisions We bring you a taste of Iceland with Icelandic Provisions, traditional Icelandic skyr made with Heirloom Skyr Cultures.
(252)

Skyr has been a dairy provision of Icelanders for more than 1,000 years—dating back to the days of the Vikings—and is considered one of country’s national foods. It is a cultured dairy product, different from yogurt, and is thick, creamy and packed with protein. Our traditional Icelandic skyr is made with unique Heirloom Skyr Cultures that have been treasured and preserved to make skyr for hundred

s of years. These one-of-a-kind cultures are what help give our skyr its distinct flavor and texture. It is not too tart, not too sweet and full of flavor.

Happy First Day of Summer (Sumardagurinn fyrsti)! 🌞🇮🇸

Icelanders live by the winter and not winter mindset. Rooted in the old Icelandic calendar, where the year was divided into just winter and summer, today marks the start of longer, brighter days ahead.

Save this for inspiration for your next day outside in Iceland, in order through the carousel:

—Icelandic Highlands (only accessible during summer)
—Stuðlagil Canyon, North Iceland
—Seljalandsfoss waterfall at sunset
—Skaftafell National Park
—Black-sand horseback riding in Vík
—Vík village
—Arnarstapi, Snæfellsnes Peninsula

Whether it’s reconnecting with nature on an extended hike or hunting down patches of tulips in the city, it’s time to fuel up on skyr and get outside! 👟

To celebrate Earth Day, our team spent this morning volunteering at one of ‘s Mobile Markets in the Bronx, helping provide fresh food to 620+ local households. 🥬🌎

City Harvest brings fresh food directly to New Yorkers, rescuing food that would otherwise go to waste and getting it to those who need it most.

We’re proud to have partnered with City Harvest for the past four years. Making nourishing food more accessible is core to our Nordic food philosophy and something we care deeply about. If you’d like to learn more or support their work, check out cityharvest.org!

Gleðilegan Bolludag (Happy Cream Bun Day)! 🇮🇸

Iceland celebrates the Monday before Lent with delicious cream-filled pastry buns. This holiday is especially enjoyed by kids with a little mischief. 🤭

Traditionally, kids would decorate a short stick known as a “bolludagsvöndur” or “bun-day wand and would playfully s***k their parents chanting “bolla, bolla, bolla!” (bun, bun, bun!). Each playful tap earns them a cream bun later that afternoon. One tap, one bun.

The paddle tradition has softened overtime but the spirit of the holiday lives on in bakery windows stacked high with pillowy, cream-filled buns just waiting to be devoured. 😋

What makes a lopapeysa special? Icelandic sheep wool, hand-knitted craft, and that iconic round yoke pattern.

Warning: this dessert does not like being shared 😉

This take on the classic sticky toffee pudding is made extra soft and plush with our Salted Caramel & Banana Extra Creamy Skyr. The toffee sauce lives between toffee and salted caramel notes. Cozy, comforting, and dangerously hard to put down. Best enjoyed warm with coffee and a dollop of Salted Caramel & Banana Extra Creamy Skyr for a nourishing protein boost. ✨
