Ask Burgundy collectors which names are most closely tied to Chambolle Musigny, and Roumier won't take long to come up.

Christophe Roumier has always framed the domaine's philosophy simply: Pinot Noir isn't the point. Terroir is. The grape is just the language through which each vineyard gets to speak. It's an idea that has guided three generations of Roumier and helped turn the domaine into one of Burgundy's true collector holy grails.

So when Michelin's new Burgundy Grape Selection placed Domaine Georges Roumier in its top tier, collectors saw a long-held truth set down in print. 🍷

This year, is celebrating the bicentennial of La Romanée as a single family-owned monopole. The smallest Grand Cru appellation in the Côte d’Or, it encompasses only 0.8452 hectares in Vosne-Romanée and produces fewer than 4,000 bottles in any given year.

Our Burgundy Weekend brought that celebration full circle as we walked the vines of La Romanée with Comte Louis-Michel Liger-Belair and continued the evening at the beautiful where a private chef prepared a five-course dinner and the Comte, joined by his son Henry, led us through a progression of the wines, all ex-Domaine.

Standing in the vineyard, and looking at its neighbors, you really understand what La Romanee means. Romanee-Conti, Richebourg, Aux Reignots, La Grande Rue; these are all iconic vineyards. Sitting at the Comte’s table, you understand why they’re made the way they are. From the top of La Romanée, the whole village comes into focus. At the Comte’s table, so do the wines.

Ask a collector to name the white Burgundy they would most like to have in their cellar, and Coche-Dury comes up almost every time.

Bottles are scarce, allocations are tiny, and when they surface at auction, the response is immediate. Collectors do not simply want Coche-Dury. They wait years for the opportunity. Its place among Michelin’s inaugural Three-Grape domaines feels almost inevitable.

Jean-François Coche did more than build the domaine’s modern reputation. He created one of white Burgundy’s most recognizable signatures: concentrated fruit, incisive acidity, and the controlled reduction that gives the wines their famous struck-match edge.

Scarce, consistent, and endlessly sought after, Coche-Dury is not simply a cellar trophy. It is the kind of Burgundy serious collectors hope to drink at least once and never quite stop chasing.

The first half of 2026 was a record one for fine and rare wine. Acker posted its highest auction volume for any January-to-June period in company history, held 42% of the global market share, and grew its Global Wine Merchant retail business 46% year over year. At Michelin-starred Restaurant Le Charlemagne in Pernand-Vergelesses, we hosted a retrospective of the 1996 vintage in Burgundy, with Chef Laurent Peugeot. Six flights spanning differnet villages, crus and styles.

Domaine Leflaive opened spectacularly with Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, and Chevalier-Montrachet, an incredible start to the evening and testament to the fact that 1996 is one of the all-time great white vintages. The reds moved from Volnay Clos des Ducs through Les Amoureuses and Bonnes-Mares to a flight of Échezeaux that included Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, before Leroy, d’Auvenay, and Armand Rousseau’s Chambertin Clos de Bèze walked us home.

Why 1996? Thirty years seemed a good time to check in on this controversial vintage that many felt had too much acidity and not enough fruit. Those doubters have been proven wrong, as the reds are now singing out of the glass. While many of the ‘96s were reserved and tightly wound in their youth, thirty years of bottle age have coaxed out complex layers of red and black fruits, earth, spice, and mineral nuance. Patience, it turns out, was the right call.

Checking in on a vintage over multiple wines is one of collecting’s great pleasures. This evening at Charlemagne showed why we should all do it more often!

Saturday, July 25th. Our Hong Kong auction opens the second half of the season at 10:30am HKT, with nearly one thousand lots of the world’s finest and rarest wine and four collections anchoring the sale.

🍷“A Tribute to Michel Rolland: An Offering Direct from Château Le Bon Pasteur” (Lots 1–173)
The wine world lost Michel Rolland in March. This offering comes direct from the Château, spanning nearly five decades from 1974 through 2020, a near-unbroken vertical of the Pomerol estate where his story began and ended. Rare 1970s bottles lead into the 1982, three cases of 1989, the 2000 in large format, ten six-magnum lots of 2005, and on through the modern era. Raise a glass, then raise your paddle.

🍷“The Immaculate Collection of the Chairman” (Lots 174–257)
Bordeaux at its deepest, mostly in original wood. Ten bottles of 2010 Angélus, a trio of Cheval Blanc crowned by the 1947, Haut-Brion reaching back to 1961, La Mission Haut-Brion with 1928 and 1959, and a 1959 DRC La Tâche for the Burgundy lovers. A cellar built by someone who clearly loves the hunt as much as the pour.

🍷“Pristine Bordeaux Purchased En Primeur” (Lots 258–557)
Three hundred lots, nearly every bottle bought en primeur and shipped to Hong Kong in temperature-controlled containers, largely in original wood. Built on 2010, 2015, 2018, 2019, and 2020. Cheval Blanc, Léoville Las Cases, Pétrus, the First Growths, and a golden finale of d’Yquem. If you’re building a serious cellar, start here.

🍷“Worldly Selections of a Hong Kong Bon Vivant” (Lots 785–950)
One hundred sixty-six lots from a collector who loves great food and the wine that belongs beside it. Bordeaux runs deep, Krug Clos du Mesnil dazzles, Margaux arrives in Year of the Tiger sets released for Chinese New Year, and Napa closes it out with Opus One and Vérité.

MICHELIN Guide has named Domaine Dugat-Py one of Burgundy’s nine Three Grape estates, its highest distinction.

This one means something to us. We’ve had the pleasure of working with Loïc Dugat-Py for years, and it has been a genuine joy to know a winemaker of such conviction, making some of Gevrey-Chambertin’s most serious wines with warmth and humility. The power his father built into the domaine is still there, carried now with Loïc’s own sense of precision.

To see him recognized this way feels exactly right. 🍷Congratulations, Loïc. Richly deserved.
