Friends of SCSC! We have moved to the giving platform GiveButter for all private donations for a Harlem Food Pantry and Warm Meal Programs that help feed neighbors in need in New York City! Check out the new site and consider giving to this important mission as we enter the Summer month and as SNAP benefit funding is harder to come by for so many of our neighbors in need!

This Monday, Salem United Methodist Church will have the honor of hosting a very special gathering in partnership with Rethink Food, and I would love for you to be there.

We will welcome elected leaders and partners from across New York State as we celebrate the expansion of Rethink Food’s work statewide through the proposed Chef-to-Community Tax Credit (A9055 / S8719). This initiative supports restaurants and chefs in preparing fresh, healthy meals for communities experiencing food insecurity — strengthening local businesses while feeding our neighbors.

Joining us will be Assembly Member Jordan J.G. Wright, Assembly Member Charles D. Fall, Senator Michelle Hinchey, members of the Business Council of New York State, and partners from food programs across the state. Together, we will lift up the power of collaboration — chefs, faith communities, nonprofits, and public servants — working side by side for the common good.

Salem has long believed that feeding our neighbors is holy work. To host this moment — as the vision expands to serve all of New York State — is something worth celebrating.

Huge thank you to Dr. Alani and the amazing team at for donating turkeys to our SCSC Thanksgiving Pantry! 🦃💛

Because of generous partners like you, our pantry served over 4,000 neighbors on Thanksgiving Week and distributed 300 turkeys and 50 chickens to families across Harlem.

Your kindness helped make Thanksgiving brighter, warmer, and full of dignity for so many households. 🍁✨

WOW what a difference a couple of days make out here in NYC. It’s very cold out on Saturday, but Mt. Calvary-St. Mark's United Methodist Church Helpful Outreach Ministry couldn’t have asked for a better November day to be outside to serve our community in love than this past Saturday for our monthly “Giving Saturday.” We are grateful for the sunny skies and warm weather, and for this month’s “THANKS-Giving,” we were able to give out 50 bags of groceries filled with sweet potatoes, tomatoes, rice, onions, collard greens, stuffing mix, and gravy to jumpstart the Thanksgiving holiday. Big thanks to our church family and Uptown Good Food who came out to serve our community in love and support! Mark your calendars for our next “Giving Saturday,” which will be our Annual Toy Drive on December 13th.
