Thursday Tip for anyone buying pumpkins and mums, lets get the most out of your fall decorations:

Pumpkins:

Soaking pumpkins in a diluted vinegar solution helps preserve them by killing mold spores and bacteria that cause early rotting.

How to Do a Vinegar Bath Mix the solution: Combine 10 parts water with 1 part white vinegar in a large bucket, tub, or sink. Soak the pumpkin: Submerge the carved or uncarved pumpkin in the liquid for 20 to 30 minutes. Dry completely: Remove the pumpkin and let it air-dry completely before putting it on display.

Mums

Watering mums from the bottom ensures the roots fully absorb moisture while keeping the delicate flowers and foliage dry.

How to Bottom Water Mums

Keep the mum in its original plastic nursery pot with drainage holes instead of replanting it right away. Fill a bucket, sink, or deep saucer with a few inches of water. Set the potted plant in the water and let it soak for 20 to 30 minutes (or up to an hour if the soil is completely dry) until the pot feels heavy. Lift the pot out, let it drain completely for 10 to 15 minutes, and place it back in its decorative container
