Sometimes you *think* you put a thin enough layer of maple syrup on each tray, but in reality it's 2:00 a.m., so maybe your judgment is a little off.

Anyway, we'll have maple powdered sugar at this week's farmers markets. Made from our very own wood-fired maple syrup.

And I'll have a squeaky clean freeze dryer when all is said and done. 😅😂

In honor of Juneteenth the St. Peter Food Shelf will be closed tomorrow! Tonight we will have unlimited milk, produce and bread. PSA for all my fellow outdoorsy folks:

The Lone Star tick has been in the news a lot lately, as its range expands and cases of Alpha Gal increase.

NOT ALL LONE STARS HAVE A WHITE SPOT!!

Our family submitted the first recorded Lone Star tick in our Southern MN county a number of years ago. Something just seemed **different** about a tick I found on one of the kids' back, so I sent it to the state tick lab to have my suspicions confirmed. It was an adult male Lone Star tick. Larvae, nymphs, and adult males do not have a white spot like most pictures show. ALL life stages and both sexes can transmit Alpha Gal.

Lone Star ticks are smaller than Dog Ticks and rounder than both Dog and Deer Ticks. The males have a marginal groove that looks almost like a pie crust.

Be on the lookout. Do daily tick checks. Take steps to prevent yourself from them attaching to you in the first place, where possible. Keep your pets on a flea and tick treatment for all months the temps are above 40°F. Utilize your nearest tick lab if you need to, and see your doctor if you start to develop symptoms of any tickborne illness.
