Blue Dasher and Flame Skipper. I remember seeing these dashers at my parents' Michigan cottage while I was growing up. They were always landing on our boat, a cattail or sitting on the dock.
🔥 The Flame Skipper is an incredible dragonfly and it will perch on anything made available by a water source. Did you know that dragonflies are the only insects that can fly in the wind? Dragonflies will always be my favorite.

Honey Vine,a native milkw**d monarchs love it,
Native Plant Enthusiasts & Conservationists love it! Everyone else..not so much.
Considered a w**d by most, I fought it for several years, now I control it and the payoff it so rewarding. I have a soft spot for this plant. It is an alternative host plant for monarch butterfly caterpillars and an excellent nectar source for native bumblebees.

The only place I like a surprise is in the garden. These zinnias are a zinnia mix; each one is a little work of art and a sweet surprise. The first time I planted zinnias was in 1985, and it gave me the confidence at 22 to think, 'Hey, maybe I can garden.' If you're looking for the easiest and most impressive flower bed, try zinnias. They propagate like crazy, so give them their own space to wander. 🙂 Pollinator-approved.

Sorry Dads, you'll have to share the spotlight; your holiday fell on National Dachshund Day. This was our foster dog 7 years ago. She was adopted out three times and returned. Let's face it, she was a mess! We didn't have the heart to try and adopt her out again, so she stayed. She's been living out her golden girl life here on the ranch and has been with us a long time now. Happy National Dachshund Day, Moxie! Good Girl!
