Milling heirloom grain sure ain’t easy, we just make it look like a good time.

Fun fact: there isn’t a manufacturer anywhere in the world building rice mills specifically designed to efficiently mill heirloom rice.
Trust us, we’ve looked….More than once.

So instead of ordering the perfect machine from a catalog, we spent a lot of time scratching our heads, turning wrenches, making adjustments, and occasionally having harsh conversations with equipment that can’t talk back.

Much of the machinery in our mill has been heavily modified to handle the unique challenges of Non GMO Heirloom Rice.
Some days it feels less like operating a rice mill and more like a Rave DJ about to drop the beat! Buttons, k***s, levers, wheels keeping it all on track.

The good news? Every challenge teaches us something new. The bad news? The grain usually figures out a new way to humble tomorrow.

brought it to our 6th Annual Tidewater Grain Company Chef Field Trip Weekend, we mean they brought it all!
From a terrific assortment of North Carolina Got To Be NC meats and cheeses for our charcuterie tables each night, to their iconic smoker filled with perfectly cooked local beef pork, chicken and quail!

Happy Monday from the Rice Pond… remember to take a moment and soak it all in. Kinda like our rice has been doing. So far we’ve had excellent weather conditions for rice growth and we’re seeing a good bit of heading, won’t be long now till those golden grains come along. So be like rice… “head” into your week strong!
